We now know when new episodes of Designated Survivor will debut on its new home at Netflix. Mark your calendars: The political drama returns for Season 3 on June 7.
The official trailer, which dropped Friday, finds the unlikely commander in chief Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) scrambling to regain the public's trust in his bid for reelection after a very public outburst during a press conference. But if anyone's up for the challenge, it's the guy who stumbled his way into the Oval Office after the previous cabinet was murdered in a massive explosion.
In the gripping preview, Kirkman and his sweet vintage glasses face an angry nation teeming with resentment at the administration's numerous failures. The stakes are especially high for Kirkman, whose legacy will be defined by the outcome of this election. Will he be remembered as the guy who triumphed or just some random dude who served as a filler while the nation bounced back from a tragedy?
ABC unceremoniously canceled Designated Survivor after its second season, but following outcry from fans, Netflix swooped in for the save. And if this trailer, which also features Kal Penn's visibly angry press secretary Seth Wright screaming at journalists, is any indication, we're in for the wildest ride yet.
Season 3 of Designated Survivor arrives Friday, June 7 on Netflix.
