Like sand through the hourglass, Days of Our Lives will do another season.

NBC renewed the daytime soap for a 54th season on Thursday, the network announced. The show chronicling the comings and goings of the Horton, Brady and DiMera families of Salem, has been on since 1965 and aired over 13,000 episodes.

"We're very excited about having more great Days in Salem," said Bruce Evans, EVP Current Programming at NBC Entertainment.

Days of Our Lives is one of just four daytime network soaps still active. It's the second-longest-running scripted series currently in production on American TV, behind ABC's General Hospital. It's been on for longer than The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.
