Call It: Code Black Has Been Canceled After Three Seasons

Code Black is no more at CBS. The medical drama has been canceled after three seasons.

Showrunner Michael Seitzman broke the news Thursday on Twitter with a heartfelt message thanking fans for their support. "Dear #CodeBlack fans, the sad news came today that we were cancelled. It's been a true joy to make this show and watch your response every week. Thank you for all of your passion. Truly, our best episodes have yet to air. We hope you'll watch and enjoy them. We made them for you," he wrote.

The series centered around the skilled doctors in the nation's busiest emergency room in LA County after reaching code black -- meaning they're treating so many patients that it puts a strain on their resources. It stars Marcia Gay Harden, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Boris Kodjoe and Luiz Guzman. Rob Lowe joined the cast in Season 2 as a military doctor with special skills.

Season 3, which premiered on April 25, will continue to air in its regular timeslot on Wednesdays at 10/9c until it finishes out its final episodes. The season finale will now serve as the series finale.

This marks Seitzman's second show to be canceled this month after ABC announced that Quantico would also end after three seasons.
