Being back in the 118 on Halloween is not all it's cracked up to be

Buck (Oliver Stark) might officially be back in the firehouse, but that doesn't mean his troubles are over just yet. In this exclusive clip from Monday night's new episode of 9-1-1, Buck's return to the 118 proves to be a lot less exciting than he might have hoped, as he's relegated to handing out candy to kids (and smoke detectors to their parents) instead of getting in on any action on Halloween night.

In the clip, Oliver asks Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) how long he's going to be punished for bringing his lawsuit against the firehouse, and his boss tells him, "Someday you're going to figure out when to stop pushing and learn some patience. I hope we're both alive to see it."

After that tough love from the chief, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) backs him up with a more encouraging speech, reminiscing about his days as a rookie when he also had to wait his turn and earn his way onto the truck.

Of course, Buck being put on babysitting duty isn't the scariest thing about 9-1-1's Halloween-themed episode. The episode, titled "Monsters," will also feature Athena (Angela Bassett) responding to a series of spooky calls, including a field trip that has been terrorized by crows and a ghostlike girl spotted wandering around a neighborhood.

9-1-1 airs Mondays at 8/7c on Fox.
