• The Sopranos finale, which as previously reported drew 11.9 million total viewers, pulled off a rare (and, frankly, sad) feat: It bested the audience of any cable or major network program last week, save for America's Got Talent.• Alas, lead-out John from Cincinnati didn't benefit much from the buildup, only holding onto the 3.45 million who didn't assume their cable had gone kablooey.• Kyle XY's Monday return delivered 2.2 mil, on par with the ABC Family hit's Season 1 average.

Kyle XY's Sophomore Year Gets X-tended
ABC Family has ordered 10 additional episodes of its highest-rated series, Kyle XY, bringing the total for the second season (launching June 11) to 23. "We have been delighted with the new episodes, and we're thrilled to be able to extend Season 2," ABC Family president Paul Lee tells the Hollywood Reporter. "It is truly the show that has defined this network."Kyle's sophomore run promises big answers — and boy, does it deliver. I'm nearly done with the new season's first episode and there is a lot of new and compelling data to process. ABC Family has unveiled its summer and fall schedule, which includes returning tween favorites Kyle XY (premieres Monday, June 11) and Wildfire (January), a pair of new series, the college-set ensemble comedy Greek (July) and the animated Slacker Cats (August), and Tom Bergeron hosted episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos (which are much better than those lame Bob Saget ones). In conjunction with Greek, the channel will launch virtualrush.com next month, yet another social networking site to help you fritter away your workday. Kyle XY also offers an interactive component at KyleXY.com, including exclusive videos, online games and clues to the show's myriad mysteries, like why the title character lacks a navel. Question: I have a feeling this question may well bring your ridicule raining down on me. Any Kyle XY scoop? Answer: Ridicule? Pshaw. No need to be ashamed. Kyle XY is a fun show. (Or so I hear.) To answer your question, yes, I have some scoop for you. The Aug. 28 season finale will answer a "number of questions," series creator David Himelfarb tells my colleague Ileane Rudolph. Among them: How did Kyle come to be in the woods in the show’s opening scene? Who killed Professor Kern? Are there others like Kyle? And what is Amanda's boyfriend, Charlie, hiding? "As the show goes on,” Himelfarb says, “the mythology aspect will grow. We started out more like Starman; we end up more like Lost. It was a softer, sweeter show, and now we're much more about the mystery and the jeopardy."
