As arguably the single most important figure to emerge in Afro-Cuban jazz during the 1980s, 1990s or 2000s, Havana-born pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba turned heads and drew listeners for his incredible versatility and his ability to blend American and Cuban jazz traditions into a cohesive, organic whole. Rubalcaba headlines this Jazz Sessions outing, in which he performs four selections: "Prologo to el Manicero Supernova," "Improvisation #1", "Besame Mucho" and "Yolanda Anastasia".
