One Life to Live Vet Patricia Elliott Dies of Cancer

One Life to Live star and Tony Award-winning actress Patricia Elliott, pictured above on the left with Sondra Gilman, has died. Her niece confirmed to the Associated Press that the 77-year-old actress succumbed to her battle with cancer on Sunday.

Elliott began her career on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. She won a Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 1973 for her turn as Countess Charlotte Malcolm in the production. She received a second nomination in 1977 for The Shadow Box.

Elliott then moved on from the Great White Way to the world of soap operas. She played Renee Divine Buchanan on One Life to Live from 1988 to 2011. Her other TV credits include guest appearances on Kojak and St. Elsewhere.

She is survived by her niece Sally Fay, her aunt Claudine Walker and several cousins.
