The Squealer Reviews

Holt stars as a bootleg gangster who has his rival killed. His wife, Revier, is having an affair with his best friend, Moore. After the murder of his rival, played by Ellis, Holt is arrested. He believes Moore has squealed on him and he breaks out of jail to get revenge, only to learn that the squealer is really his wife. She tipped the police off to save Holt from a worse fate from the rival mob. Once he learns the truth, Holt decides his son is better off with Moore and knowingly walks into a police trap where he is killed. Parts of the script were later used in MGM's THE LAST GANGSTER (1937). This film was also known for its unique character names, such as Ratface Edwards, Mitter Davis, and Pimply-Face.
