William Boyd's penultimate turn as Hopalong Cassidy finds Hoppy, California (Andy Clyde) and Lucky (Rand Brooks) trying to solve a triple murder at a frontier hotel. Mary: Mary Tucker. Jeff: John Parrish. Earl: Leonard Penn. Directed by George Archainbaud.

Boyd solves a murder mystery in which most of the action takes place at night as he chases the killers through misty and dark locations rather than wide-open spaces. Plot sees Boyd trying to find out why three corpses turned up in a frontier hotel. A murky story foretelling the doom of the 66-strong series. The 53-year-old Boyd made one more Hopalong picture before he began reissuing the entire series on TV.
