The Bermuda Triangle Reviews

René Cardona Jr.'s films usually go overboard with shock effects and sensationalism, but The Bermuda Triangle is an exception to this rule. Unfortunately, this film offers little to replace such attention-getting tactics and is a rather dull experience as a result. Stephen Lord's script has far too little plot for a two-hour film and tries to fill the space with a bunch of talky, sub-soap opera dialogue scenes that weigh the film down even more. Cardona Jr.'s direction doesn't help matters; he manages the occasional interesting flourish -- like a brief, effective nightmare sequence -- but fails to establish a decent pace. He also falls flat with his direction of the actors: pros like Huston and Guida acquit themselves well, but the child actors are awful and Cardona Jr. stalwart Stiglitz is as wooden as ever. Worst of all, The Bermuda Triangle climaxes with a cheap non-ending that is more likely to infuriate viewers than scare them. All in all, The Bermuda Triangle is more of a snooze than a scare.
