Wilde plays a nobleman in the France of Louis XIV who loses all his possessions and status while away serving his country. With the assistance of Wallace, who turns out to be a spy for Holland, Wilde gains possession of a famed jewel and re-establishes his fortune. Only the atmosphere of a decadent France and the crazed performance of heavy Lom add any elan to an otherwise silly yarn.
