Lodge plays the inspector on the case of the murder of a financial backer of a musical, shot during the Paris premiere of the show. It is quickly established that the shot came from the stage, making everyone in the cast a suspect in the murder. Lodge gives a formidable performance as the inspector, but the story is unable to maintain any consistent level of suspense throughout.
