Lucky Losers Reviews

This average entry in the "Bowery Boys" series finds Gorcey and Hall working in a Wall Street brokerage firm owned by Jackson. But when Jackson is found dead and it's reported a suicide, Dell, a newscaster in television, suspects foul play. When Gorcey finds some dice on his late boss's desk, he, too, figures that Jackson must have been in trouble with gamblers at the High Hat Club. Meanwhile, Dell reports his lead on the air and is severely beaten by some mobsters. But this doesn't stop him, and he delivers another report from his hospital bed, linking high-society man Cheshire with gangsters and with Jackson's death. Gorcey then sets up a trap for Cheshire by having the boys learn the gambling trade from Tyler, who once had connections with both Jackson and the notorious club. The case is solved and all ends well for the East End Kids. Audiences might find a problem with LUCKY LOSERS in that it starts off on a humorous note then turns deadly serious.
