Lost in the Stars Reviews

A poor adaptation of the Anderson-Weill musical play that was based on Paton's moving South African novel Cry, the Beloved Country. Peters stars as a black Zulu minister who loses his faith when he travels to Johannesburg in search of his fugitive son. Davis is the son who, in a bungled robbery attempt, murders the son of a white bigot (Rogers). What could have been a powerfully moving film with a statement about segregation and racism falls far short of the mark. Songs include the title song, "Cry the Beloved Country," "Little Gray House," "Trouble Man," "Bird of Paradise," "Big Mole," "Train Go Now to Johannesburg."
