Gelosia (Jealousy) is based on a novel by Luigi Capuana and Sergio Amidei. The Marquis di Roccaverdia (Rolando Lupi) is used to living life as he pleases, and it pleases him to indulge in wine, women and song without limit or conscience. After abandoning his mistress Agrippina (Luisa Ferida), the Marquis decides that no other man shall have her, and arranges for the execution of her innocent husband. Even after taking a wife himself, the Marquis can't get Agrippina out of his mind. His obsession turns to madness, and by film's end he is a gibbering lunatic, unable even to find solace in God.
