David Wall played the title character in this cinemadaptation of Haddon Chambers stage play Captain Swift. The illegitimate, black-sheep son of a prominent British family, Swift is exiled to Australia, where he is forced to endure persecution and deprivation for several reels. After much adversity, he triumphantly matriculates into a millionaire, and is finally able to return home for a reunion with his mother. Alas, the castle guards fail to recognize Captain Swift, and tragedy results. Captain Swift was one of several old-fashioned stage melodramas transferred to the screen in the pre-WWI years by the Life Film Corporation.
