I was buried in other work yesterday and I forgot to do my weekly "Pick of the Week," so I apologize to anyone who came here looking for the story yesterday.May 1 has a number of decent releases, but no single "Wow, this is going to be the #1 set" release, which makes my job a bit harder to do. I looked at the sets that people on TVShowsonDVD.com want, and there were two that stood out: the second season of Beverly Hills, 90210, and the third and fourth seasons of Dinosaurs. I'm going to go with Dinosaurs for next week; the set contains seven unaired episodes (out of the 36 in the set), a behind-the-scenes featurette, commentary tracks, a music video and more. Sounds like a winner to me. Sitcom Shake-up: New Time Slot for Old Christine
To make room for Rules of Engagement — the Adam Sandler-produced sitcom starring Patrick Warburton and David Spade, and premiering Feb. 5 — CBS is moving The New Adventures of Old Christine up an hour, to 8:30 pm/ET, starting Monday, March 12 (following a brief hiatus for the Julia Louis-Dreyfus starrer). I know what you're about to ask, and here is the answer: A week prior to that, The Class will have concluded its first-season run.Also per Variety (and here is where it gets tricky): The King of Queens, currently airing on Wednesday and bound for hiatus after its Jan. 3 outing, will replace Rules starting April 9, to unspool the series' last seven episodes ever.
Good News, Bad News for Jericho Fans
According to a CBS press release, Jericho will air repeat-free in this, its freshman season, albeit with a hitch: The drama will take a 10-week breather after staging a cliff-hanger finale on Nov. 29, then return with all-new (and nothing but new) episodes on Feb. 21, 2007, starting with a flashback to how life was in Jericho pre-nuclear attack. During the hiatus, fans can find new, Jericho-related content at CBS.com, and streamings of episodes aired to date at Innertube.Filling Jericho's Wednesdays-at-8 time slot during the month of December will be double helpings of The King of Queens, which premieres its ninth season on Dec. 6. Speaking of shows I probably should be watching, Disney's teen phenom Hannah Montana has reeled in a pretty big fish. I'm told Dolly Parton will make a guest appearance this summer. I'm not sure who she's playing, but very reliable sources say her character will have huge knockers. Especially since the commercial of Ray calling his mom to see if he could stay over at Doug's made me chuckle every time I saw it (and trust me, it was on a lot). But I just got home too late.
