CBS Orders Daytime Talk Show to Replace As the World Turns

A new daytime talk show co-hosted by former Roseanneco-star Sara Gilbert will replace departing longtime soap opera As the World Turnslater this year, CBS announced Wednesday.
The show, which aims to examine current issues through the eyes of mothers, also features America's Got Talentjudge Sharon Osbourne, Big Brotherhost Julie Chen, actresses Holly Robinson Peete (runner-up on the most recent Celebrity Apprentice) and Leah Remini (of The King of Queens) and Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur as panelists.

In announcing the move, Barbara Bloom, CBS' senior vice president of daytime, said daytime is "evolving" with more variety among the usual soap operas, game shows and talk shows."We were looking for a new format that would speak to the core audience but also have the topical and entertainment value to go even broader," Bloom said in a statement. "This panel is not a bashful bunch; they are outspoken on any issue you put on the table.  It promises to be an hour of television with timely discussions, unfiltered opinions and a lot of personality."The show, which has already drawn comparisons to The View, won the slot over a new, Andy Richter-hosted version of Pyramid and an Emeril Lagasse cooking show, according to Deadline.com. The daily, one-hour series was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer. It is expected to start in October.
