In fact Lasky is a magazine fact checker looking for a break but when a poison pen note with a lock of her dead son's hair is sent to Joyce Foley, it's traced back to Lasky. He clearly has a thing about the Foleys but it's his antipathy towards Joyce's college sorority that seems to be behind his irrational crimes
