HBO Max, It's Time to Make Joey Available for Friends Completists to Stream

After his friends all go their separate ways, Joey Tribianni leaves New York for Hollywood to pursue his acting career full time. His sister Gina buys him a nice apartment, and he finds a new roommate in his 20-year old nephew Michael (Gina had him when she was 16), who is literally a rocket scientist. Michael's book smarts and Joey's people smarts allow them to help each other out whenever they can, and make them nice companions.

Justin Kirk will rule the Animal Kingdom for NBC. Kirk, 42, will star in the single-camera comedy pilot as a veterinarian who loves animals but detests their owners. The show is executive-produced by Hangover Part II writer Scot Armstrong. Showtime renews Weeds for Season 8 But what does this mean for Kirk's longtime role as Uncle Andy on Weeds? Kirk's commitment to Animal Kingdom is not expected to interfere with the Showtime comedy's upcoming eighth season, which may very well be its last, according to Deadline, who first reported the news. Kirk is currently in...

NBC is planting the seeds for a spin-off of The Office centered on Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and the Schrute family beet farm, Deadline reports. The series, which would tentatively launch in early 2013, would follow Dwight's life outside of Dunder Mifflin at his family's beet farm and bed and breakfast. The beet farm has been featured in several episodes stemming back to Season 2, with The Office and Parks and Recreation executive producer Mike Schur playing the role of Dwight's business partner and...

Matt LeBlanc is a pretty big jerk on Episodes, and not in the neurotic Larry David-on-Curb Your Enthusiasm-kind of way. In the Showtime comedy, LeBlanc plays himself as a lame-brained has-been — with a stinky Joey cologne line to match — but also a womanizer, bum dad, and most recently, the kind of guy who sleeps with his friend's wife without remorse. It's a complicated if depressing alter ego to take on, and certainly one attention-grabbing way for the real-life LeBlanc to jump back into the spotlight following the 2006 failure of Joey. Executive producers David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik say that they didn't craft the part around the real LeBlanc, who in person is pleasant but serious, relaxed but not overly friendly. "Occasionally, he'll be playful, but he's not Joey," Klarik says. Are the creators of Showtime's Episodes bitter? They don't think so! "Fake Matt is...

It's difficult to believe that the creators of Showtime's Episodes are not holding a grudge against network TV. Their last series, the CBS sitcom The Class, was axed after one short season, and their follow-up comedy (for cable, natch) is nothing if not an indictment of how the worst broadcast shows get made, sometimes in spite of a great idea. Just take a gander at Episodes' fictional network honcho, a crass and careless tyrant who transforms an urbane British hit about the headmaster of an elite boys school into a broad comedy for American audiences starring Matt LeBlanc.

Matt LeBlanc spent 12 years in Joey Tribbiani's shoes — first on the classic comedy Friends, then on its not-so-classic spin-off, Joey. But on January 9, the three-time Emmy nominee returns to TV in Showtime's Episodes as someone he's even more familiar with... Matt LeBlanc. Or at least a spoiled, morally bankrupt (and, ahem, very well-endowed) version of the actor, dreamed up for the biting Hollywood satire by cocreator (and former Friends producer) David Crane and his partner Jeffrey Klarik. LeBlanc, now 43 and father to 6-year-old Marina, sat down with TV Guide Magazine for a frank and funny chat about his new comedy, life away from the limelight and why he's opposed to a Friends reunion.

Drea de Matteo will guest-star in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Wolf Films confirmed on Twitter. The 38-year-old Sopranos and Joey co-star, who took up residence on Wisteria Lane during Desperate Housewives' 2009-10 season, will play...

Fresh Diet Raspberry Snapple? Check. Fully charged Dell laptop? Check. Leftover Vicodin from last year's root-canal crisis, just in case? Check. OK, let's do this, people. EXECUTIVE SESSION 9:08 am: I spy Eye president Nina Tassler embracing a reporter prior to walking on stage. Is that ethical? Oh, wait, this is coming from someone who reserves judgment on a show until after the tie-in swag is delivered.9:14 am: Stop the presses! In her opening remarks, Tassler drops a bombshell: "It's [been] a "really great year at CBS for us!" 9:22 am: With no major controversies swirling around CBS, the initial questions lobbed at Tessler are decidedly tame. Where's a good Big Brother scandal when you need one? Speaking of which, did anyone watch the live video feed last night? Maybe someone got stabbed, and we don't know it! (Hey, a guy can dream.)9:29 am: Things may be picking up. Citing the demise of Fox's Reunion as an example, a reporter asks Tassler if she's worried that viewers might thi...
Question: What can you tell us about the conclusion of Joey? Answer: The final episode — which may see the light of day in August — revolved around Gina and Jimmy's nuptials.
Question: Will NBC show the remaining episodes of Joey? Answer: Yes. Probably in August.
Joey's nephew, Paulo Costanzo, has joined CBS' untitled comedy pilot about an engaged couple, a married couple and a single guy.... As she hinted at in last week's Insider Q&A, Lacey Chabert has landed herself a pilot: The Party of Five alum will play sister to Lindsay Sloane in CW's Nick Lachey-starring romantic comedy She Said/He Said.
Suddenly, I feel kinda bad about all the Joey jokes I made. Yesterday Matt LeBlanc filed for divorce from his wife of three years, Entertainment Tonight reports. Irreconcilable differences are said to have done in the union of the former Friend and his missus. Y'know, on second thought, I don't feel bad after all. Joey really blew.
Question: I was wondering when and if we can expect Joey to return. I guess I am in the minority when I say I really like this show. Answer: You're not alone. My brother David and sister-in-law Pam like it, too. So that makes three of you who will be devastated to learn that the remaining episodes will likely be burned off over the summer and there's less than a 2 percent chance it'll be back in the fall. For what it's worth, the final episode will revolve around a wedding.
Question: Got any Joey spoilers? Answer: Well, they cast his dad, and you're never going to believe with whom: Robert Costanzo! That's right, they ended up going with the same actor who originated the role on Friends.
Thursday's second-season premiere of Dancing with the Stars led ABC to an overall second-place finish for the night, attracting 17.33 million viewers — a 29 percent bump from the series' summer debut and the network's best regular-programming showing in the Thursday 8-10 pm block since Nov. 16, 2000. Elsewhere, NBC's Will & Grace bowed in its new time slot with 7.98 million viewers (a slight improvement over Joey), newbie Four Kings drew 8.84 mil, and the new My Name Is Earl-The Office comedy hour averaged 10 mil — close to (but not quite) Apprentice numbers.

Tonight, Earl Hickey claims that which is rightly his: a berth on NBC's Must-See TV slate, as the freshman hit My Name Is Earl relocates from Tuesday to Thursday at 9 pm/ET, where it will be followed by the equally worthy tagalong The Office. The shake-up also shuffles Will & Grace to the 8 o'clock slot, begging the question — and TVGuide.com wasn't afraid to ask it — of whether Earl will be adding "aided and abetted the bumping of Joey from NBC's lineup" to his famous list of wrongdoings. Earl creator Greg Garcia a

The Peacock doesn't love Pamela Anderson. The Elton John concert special that NBC aired on Monday night originally featured a performance of "The Bitch Is Back" as the oversize screen behind John displayed the Stacked siren, scantily clad (duh) and doing a pole dance. Before broadcast, however, the Peacock network dropped the naughty number, declaring it "not appropriate" for the family-hour time slot. And yet Joey lasts a season and a half?
NBC has announced its mid-season game plan, and it goes a little something like this: Effective Jan. 2, My Name Is Earl and The Office, as speculated, move from Tuesday to Thursdays-at-9, where they will follow a pairing of Will & Grace and the new sitcom Four Kings (starring Seth Green, Shane McRae, Josh Cooke and Todd Grinnell). Filling the Tuesday void are back-to-back airings of new Scrubs episodes, which will have Fear Factor as its lead-in. Succeeding The Apprentice: Martha Stewart on Wednesdays at 9 is The Biggest Loser: Special Edition, a series of standalone and themed spec

Question: When can we expect to see some Friends on Joey? Answer: Well, it's not Ross or Rachel, but it's probably as close as we're ever going to get: Adam Goldberg — aka Chandler's obsessive roommate, Eddie — will show up in December playing a completely different character: a high-school chum of Joey's named Jimmy. As of now, it's just one episode, but considering the huge twist that's in store for Jimmy, I'm fairly certain we'll be seeing him again.
King of Queens' Carrie (Leah Remini) has landed her most high-profile real-estate client yet: Kirstie Alley. As reported in today's fresh Ask Ausiello, the former Fat Actress — playing what's left of herself — will hire Carrie to help her find a loft in Soho. The episode is slated to air in January. Also in today's AA: Scoop on Veronica Mars, Lost, Surface, Joey, Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, House, Battlestar Galactica, ER, Las Vegas and much, much more!
With his day job on shaky ground, Matt LeBlanc is wisely placing other irons in the fire. The onetime Friend is producing The Watch, a sci-fi horror thriller to be directed by Jeepers Creepers helmer Victor Salva, per the Hollywood Reporter. Set in World War II, the flick revolves around a team of soldiers who are being terrorized by an evil spirit unleashed by the Nazis. Said spirit would later be referred to simply as Joey.
The Eye Network resoundingly won Thursday, the first night of the November sweeps ratings period, as Survivor: Guatemala's 18.5 million torch carriers beat out NBC's Joey and Will & Grace (netting about 8 mil each) and Fox's The O.C. (6.6 mil). At 9 pm, CSI's 28.5 million loyalists had an easy victory over runner-up The Apprentice (albeit with a season-best 11 mil), while at 10 o'clock Without a Trace's 20.3 million viewers bested ER (14.3 mil), though the two were almost neck-in-neck in key demos. And ABC, you ask? Its airing of Pirates of the Caribbean didn't capture much booty, averaging just 8.4 million for the night.

In an interview airing tonight on CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, headline magnet Jennifer Aniston says today's tabloid journalism is "at a bizarre all-time high," but luckily she is able to dodge the muckraking. "I don't live in a city where I'm walking by newsstands; I'm in a car driving by them. So, unless I'm going to hurt myself while driving or p--s a lot of people off, I just don't pay attention." (Lindsay Lohan's recent fender-bender just made a lot more sense.) In semirelated news, David Hesterbey, the man caught breaking into Aniston's Malibu home on Aug. 25, has been sentenced to a year in jail and ordered to stay away from the actress for 10 years, or until the Friends alum resorts to guesting on Joey, whichever comes first.

Watch for View Askew auteur Kevin Smith to guest-star as himself on the season premiere of NBC's Joey this Thursday. What else is "Silent Bob" up to? Check out our Insider interview with the director for the latest on Mallrats, the Clerks sequel and The Green Hornet.
No, it's not Chandler, but Matt LeBlanc is getting a Must-See friend. After a two-month search, Miguel Nunez Jr. (Juwanna Mann) has been tapped to join NBC's Joey this fall as a self-important actor who ultimately will become best buds with Joey. Other Season 2 tweaks include Joey landing the lead on a summer blockbuster film and more of Jennifer Coolidge as Joey's agent, for whom Drea De Matteo's character will go to work. "Last year was a lot of Joey getting acclimated to life in California," explains executive producer Kevin Bright. "We'd like to move the show into a bigger, funnier mode."

Executive Session9:05 am “Last season was like a colonic,” starts off Kevin Reilly, entertainment president of fourth-place NBC. “It wasn’t a lot of fun to go through at the time, but it’s going to be healthy in the long run.” 9:05:15 Continuing with the intestinal-irrigation metaphor, Reilly adds, “It literally took any residual sense of entitlement or complacency at our company and blew it out.” That’s what you want to hear right after breakfast.9:09 Reilly announces “a new direction” for Joey this season that will hopefully make it suck less. “This year we will kick off with Joey finally making it in Hollywood,” he reveals. “Drea de Matteo’s character is going to go to work for Jennifer Coolidge [aka Joey’s agent]. We’re adding a new actor friend to Joey’s p

I watched an episode of Joey, my first since the pilot, and I have to say it wasn't that terrible. Just seeing Drea de Matteo tap dancing actually made it worth watching. Must be my lowered summer standards for comedy. So will I actually watch in the fall? Most likely not, but I can think of worse ways to spend a half hour next week... Will & Grace got a ton of Emmy nods, so I figured I'd tune in and see if it was just the couple of episodes I saw that weren't so funny. And of course it was one I'd already seen and I could only make it through about 5 minutes before I had to change the channel... So I flipped over to the Single in the City knock off Hooking Up which made me infinitely grateful that I
What do Heather Locklear, Matt LeBlanc, Drea de Matteo and Debra Messing have in common with, well, me? We all spent Sunday at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles for the Television Critics Assoc. press tour. (Actually, I spent most of the day next door at the St. Regis, but that's another story for another time.) Anyway, it's NBC's final day of the tour and up first is the session for this fall's most anticipated new sitcom, Joey. Here's my minute-by-minute rundown of yesterday's most memorable moments:JOEY9:50 am The cast — featuring new brother-sister team LeBlanc and de Matteo — walks out on stage and... Oh my God, Adriana's alive! For the love of God, she's alive! 9:54 "It wasn't properly conceived," exec producer Shana Goldberg Meehan says of Ashley Scott's next-door-neighbor character. As a result, the role is currently being revamped and recast. An anno
Some mysteries are best left unsolved. Take, for instance, the enigma that is Donald Trump's creepy coif. Other unexplained phenomena, however, warrant further investigation — especially when said perplexities occur at a major Hollywood shindig like the 61st annual Golden Globe Awards. Here's what left us scratching our comb-overs Sunday night... Is Tyra Banks appearing in Matt LeBlanc's spin-off, Joey? The Friends himbo and Victoria's Secret model made a head-turning pair as the presenters for best actress in a TV series, musical or comedy. But when the duo was introduced, it sure sounded like the announcer said Miss Tyra was going to star on Joey. Is she?"It's not true," says a Friends rep. Adds Banks' spokeswoman: "They said, 'The creator and executive producer of America's Next Top Model and from the upcoming NBC show Joey.' Because they said it quickly, it sounded as if she was doing both. But she's n
