Ratings: Hell's Kitchen Still Cooking with Gas

Monday's few ratings highlights:• A Hell's Kitchen leftover (3.95 million total viewers) bested an Age of Love repeat (3.6 mil) to oh-so-proudly lay claim to third place in the reruns-filled 8 o'clock hour.• At 9, a fresh Hell's Kitchen drew 7.88 mil, enjoying a week-to-week surge of 660,000. A new Age (4.75 mil), meanwhile, broke up with 700K more viewers. Holy crap, the "kittens" are boring.• Extreme Makeover returned to a hair (plug) over six million viewers, a 2.5 mil improvement over time-slot predecessor Ex-Wives Club.

Extreme Makeover's Garth Fisher Marries

Extreme Makover’s first plastic surgeon Garth Fisher and former Playboy model Jessica Canseco wed on June 23 in their Bel-Air home. The flower girls were Fisher’s two daughters from his previous marriage — Neriah, 7, and Sierra, 5 — and Canseco’s daughter Josie, 10. Fisher popped the question at a 2006 holiday party thrown by Dr. 90210 plastic surgeon Paul Nassif, who introduced the couple. ABC Nips Makeover, Plans Lost's Return

A flurry of scheduling announcements from the Alphabet network:• After one ridiculously low-rated week back on the air, Extreme Makeover "people edition" has been pulled, to be replaced on Fridays at 8 by Grey's Anatomy repeats. (Speaking of extreme makeovers, check out my Nip/Tuck contribution to the Ausiello Report appearing in the Nov. 5 TV Guide.)• February 7 has been confirmed as the return date for Lost, which goes on hiatus after the Nov. 8 episode to free up the time slot for Taye Diggs' Day Break (which I started watching last night and it is, like, wowee-zowee good).• Boston Legal returns to its original Sunday-at-10 time slot on Nov. 26 for a special airing of the first of a two-part episode, to conclude on Nov. 28.

More than 16 million people watched Cyndy Teas and her family on TV last fall, and she still gets phone calls, e-mails and donations from inspired viewers. But it was a simple meal of chicken enchiladas in her new kitchen last winter that made Cyndy realize that ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is, in her words, "more than a show. It changed our outlook on life." HOUSEWIVES ON THE MOVE?

A Hollywood Reporter survey of pilot orders for the 2006-07 TV season says that ABC, which has by far the most new shows in development, may end up relocating either Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy to a different night. "We have three big shows [Extreme Makeover: Home Edition included] on Sunday, so there will be pressure to spread the wealth," ABC entertainment exec Jeff Bader tells the Reporter. The early faves to land a Sunday berth are Anne Heche's Men in Trees, the family sudser Brothers & Sisters and the workplace dramedy Women in Law.

PAY ATTENTION

According to a study cited by the Jack Myers Media Business Report, the TV shows people pay most attention to are not necessarily the ones advertisers should pay attention to. For example, ABC's Lost, Alias and Desperate Housewives rank high in viewer engagement with content, but those watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition pay better attention to the commercials. Especially if it's a commercial for Lost, Alias or Housewives.

Smallville This is the one where...

SmallvilleThis is the one where Clark and Lana get together for the first time, but I remember it fondly because it showed just how fierce a character Chloe has become. Our favorite farm boy is all powerless and is forced to rely on his best friend to help save Lana and his parents from The Shield's Lemonhead and the Powder twins. Allison Mack had some great lines. Here's a good one: "I didn't realize superwhining was one of your powers." And I loved this exchange between Chloe and Clark: "So what you're saying is that now that you're human you have absolutely no useful skills. Not so much." Yup, I’m really enjoying the former Torch editor this season. I like her working with Clark and being someone who knows his deepest darkest secret. Meanwhile, ClarkLite is so chipper and non-broody without his powers. Too chipper. Too non-broody. I kinda like the angst that comes with being Kal-El. But if anyone deserves a little sunshine in his life, it’s Clark. Y

All right, secret confession time:...

All right, secret confession time: The Poseidon Adventure is one of my favorite cheesy movies of all time. But this version was a little bit disappointing. Sure, watching Steve Guttenberg trying to be all serious was inadvertently humorous, but they missed the campy factor from the get-go. Instead of an implausible tidal wave that wasn't seen on radar and could flip an entire ship, they went with a terrorist plot. Plus, without the presence of the remarkable Shelley Winters or the cool Gene Hackman, this remake just doesn't hold water. Oh, and poor C. Thomas Howell: He barely made it out of this alive, had a gnarly broken arm and he played a pedophile on ER earlier this month. Can he not get some better gigs?... EXTREME-LY UPSET

A Texan whose sister committed suicide after her Extreme Makeover appearance was nixed is suing the show for contributing to her death. The scandal comes on the heels of another lawsuit, filed against Extreme Makeover: Home Edition by five orphans claiming they were driven out of their spankin' new mansion by the folks who took them in following their parents' deaths.

Extreme Wedding: "I Redo"
