Ivan Sergei Joins The Mentalist
Ivan Sergei has landed a recurring role on The Mentalist, Entertainment Weekly reports. Sergei's character, Gabe Mancini, is described by EW as "a tough, handsome agent who comes off as hotheaded at times but overall is a good guy." Lifetime has picked up the procedural dramas Against the Wall and Exit 19, the network announced Monday. Both series received 13-episode orders. Exit 19 stars Sons of Anarchy actress Ally Walker as Gloria, a divorced mother who juggles her demanding personal and professional life as an intuitive LAPD homicide detective. As scooped by the Ausiello Report Thursday afternoon, NBC has redeemed itself for The Real Wedding Crashers by scheduling a second season of Friday Night Lights — this coming on the heels of an early pickup for Medium. Now, as next week's upfronts draw even closer, the bad news is trickling in. Despite recent chatter that Crossing Jordan might cheat the grim reaper, the New York Times is reporting that the six-year-old drama has booked a date with the coroner. The same article has Scrubs checking out, though the sitcom could possibly find a reprieve at the hands of ABC.

As a small consolation, the Nov. 17 episode of Las Vegas will feature another crossover from Jordan and Woody. And here's another mini-scooplet: Jordan is casting a new recurring role. The character is described as a sexy, funny, and slightly cocky cop in his mid-twenties to early thirties. Is it just me, or does that role have my name written all over it?
Game Show Crosses Jordan off NBC's List
NBC has announced a Friday, Oct. 13, debut for 1 vs. 100, a new game show to be hosted by Bob Saget. In its first week, 1 (or shall we call it 100?) will air after Deal or No Deal, but from then on it will call 8 pm its home, effectively ejecting Crossing Jordan from its Oct. 20 return date. All the Peacock is saying for now is that Jill Hennessy, Jerry O'Connell, et al, will resurface "at a later date" — perhaps even on a new night, should one of NBC's freshman forays get the ax.

In the Oct. 20 season premiere, you'll meet the new medical examiner in the morgue, Dr. Kate Switzer, played by Grey's Anatomy's Brooke Smith. Answer: I cornered Jill Hennessy at TV Guide's post-Golden Globes party (cosponsored with NBC and Focus Features) and, although she wasn't privy to 100th-episode prattle, she did tease an upcoming episode that's sure to have watercoolers bubbling. "There's a threesome kind of a scene with myself, Jerry O'Connell and Charles Mesure (J.D.), who plays Jordan's boyfriend now — although she's breaking up with him. But when you see [the scene], you'll understand after about five minutes what's really going on. It's a little deceptive." She also revealed that "Jordan actually tries to adopt a child, which is sort of strange for her character."
PILOT TALK I: NEW SHOW FOR LOST BOSS
The Big Four announced a flurry of pilot orders on Wednesday, offering a possible glimpse at the fall 2006 season. ABC gave the nod to Six Degrees, a drama about the intertwined lives of a group of strangers (sound familiar?), to be executive-produced by (here's a clue) Lost cocreator J.J. Abrams. CBS ordered Jericho, which chronicles the chaos that occurs in a small town isolated from the rest of the world by a nuclear disaster, and Orpheus, about a young man whose girlfriend is immersed in a cult. NBC gave the green light to Crossing Jordan creator Tim Kring's Heroes, in which seemingly everyday people realize they have superpowers, and Seeing Red, about a cop who gets help from dead crime victims. Fox's Faceless, meanwhile, finds a federal prosecutor going undercover as a criminal to bring down an underworld organization. My TiVo is already giddy.

Leslie Bibb has been upped to series-regular status on NBC's Crossing Jordan, where she plays police-department shrink Det. Tallulah "Lu" Simmons; read our recent Insider Q&A with the Popular star.... Adrienne Barbeau (who practically stole Swamp Thing from, you know, that big green guy) will play Judy Garland in the off-Broadway play The Property Known as Garland, opening March 23.... As part of its deal to host the FIA Formula One World Championship for an 11th consecutive year, Speed Channel will now conduct live on-camera interviews from the starting grid, which is just asking for some poor reporter's foot to get run over.

Crossing Jordan creator Tim Kring is hard at work on two new series, one of which is for a Peacock rival. In addition to developing Heroes — a large-scale, ensemble drama for NBC about ordinary people who come to discover that they have extraordinary superpowers — Kring is also penning an untitled CBS drama set in a big-city mayor's office, in which an old-school politician is positioned against a fresh-out-of-Harvard hotshot who could save his career.

You know how last week NBC forced a Crossing Jordan-Las Vegas crossover episode on us? Too. Early. This week the show redeemed itself in my eyes. The Wedding Singer old lady made me laugh and scared me at the same time (it's those eyes). And that's after Monica had Danny shake what his mama gave him to get said old lady to vacate her house that was uglying up the Montecito grounds. Turns out she shot a mean old mobster 60 years earlier and buried him underneath her house. Trust me, this was funny. Remember when I said Lara Flynn Boyle's character was obnoxious? Well, I still think so. But now I think she's good obnoxious. Monica got hers at the end, though, when Mike and Danny found her stuck in her hotel-room shower (that she designed!). This is only the beginning of October and guess what? NBC hits us with a Crossing Jordan-Las Vegas crossover stunt. Oh, joy. On Sunday a perfect storm of circumstances enabled Danny to hop on a plane to Beantown to help Jordan and Woody figure out why a Montecito showgirl jumped to her death in front of the morgue crew. Not so sure about the Jordan-Danny chemistry, but I did dig the Danny and Woody frat-boy rivalry that managed to be simultaneously dorky and cute. And like the good procedural that Crossing Jordan is, the case was wrapped in a neat and tidy little package in under an hour... well, sort of. Woody was still in the City of Lost Wages steaming things up with Sam, and Danny invited Jordan to join him at the Montecito (for a little somethin'-somethin', maybe?). Jordan hesitated and mentioned something about not being the spontaneous type. So, not realistic. The "Crossing Over Vegas" spectacular continued on Monday night
