Episode 1
A Child's Heart: Part One
Duffy returns to Holby as an agency nurse as the medical drama series begins a new season with the first half of a two-parter that concludes tomorrow. It should be the happiest day of Zoe and Max's lives, but things go disastrously wrong at what turns out to be an explosive wedding reception, resulting in more than one member of staff fighting for their lives. At the same time, the victim of a gunshot wound is brought into the Emergency Department. Jacob implements the emergency procedure designed for such occasions, but the team struggle to prevent gang culture from infiltrating the department, as one casualty leads to more.

A Child's Heart: Part Two
Connie fights to save Charlie's life. Duffy inspires Louise to become a nurse. Gang violence spills through the hospital doors, endangering more lives.
Episode 3
Objectum Sexual
Louise is struggling on her first day of nursing, but she is hardly the only one to feel the pressure in this episode of the medical drama series. A groom has a lucky escape after he passes out in a condemned building during his stag night. He is saved by Angeline, who unfortunately trips and needs medical attention herself. As recriminations circulate, Zoe persuades the bride-to-be to postpone the wedding. Elsewhere, there are other love complications as Honey and Ethan experience difficulties with their relationship, and Zoe is surprised that Max has not told people that she cheated on him. Ian has an altercation with a traffic warden.

Cradle to Grave
Lily works alongside new junior doctor Alicia Munroe to treat a pregnant patient. Dylan and Lofty's friendship strengthens. Honey decides to leave Holby set up a business elsewhere.

Jacob ends up in the firing line when an attack on a room full of racist supporters brings chaos into the hospital.

Avoidable Harm
Although pushed to her limits, Alicia demonstrates that she is a brilliant doctor after getting caught up in a fight outside the ambulance station, Alicia is forced to treat a patient in the back of a van. Jacob tries to implement his own definition of justice, but a furious Connie insists that it is not up to him to act as judge and jury. Jacob brushes her off and manages to get the name of the police officer who shot him. Elsewhere, Iain and Rita share a tender moment after the fight.

Strangers
Iain and Dixie are called to the woodlands where they discover HART Paramedic Jess Cranham has fallen down a deep hole. At the scene is her girlfriend and daughter. Dixie become suspicious back at the hospital as she learns Jess is on anti-depressants, but Iain tells her not to intervene. Lily becomes isolated as the team learn of her bullying towards Alicia. Matilda is brought into the ED by a paranoid Cal - and his heart is later broken as he learns he is not Matilda's biological father.

Estranged
An unsupportive parent manages to turn a young couple's wedding day into a disaster. Refusing to believe that Matilda is not his daughter, Cal decides to determine his blood group. What he discovers is even more disturbing - he is adopted. With his head in a mess, he decides that handing Matilda over to social services might be the best option. Elsewhere, Jacob proves he can keep his cool with an impossible patient. Connie is impressed by the way he conducts himself and the sexual tension between them grows when she spots him with his shorts off in the staff room.

Maybe This Year
Iain and Dixie are injured when the ambulance skids on ice. New receptionist Jack Diamond aims to improve Christmas spirits in the emergency department.

Silence Speaks
Connie tries not to bring her personal life into work and fails, as the drama series set in a hospital in a state of perpetual crisis continues. When Jacob undermines Connie's authority she ends up blurting out that they slept together. Charlie helps her to realize that she deserves some happiness. Lofty decides to apply for a band six post, despite Rita's reservations. Dixie visits Jess and strongly implies that she thinks that Nikki is hurting Olivia. Jess is appalled and files a complaint against Dixie. Meanwhile, the Emergency Department juniors take steps to obtain a new infuser, while Cal starts searching for his birth mother.

Home for Christmas
It is Christmas Eve and spirits are high in Holby, although not everyone is feeling merry. A nervous Cal takes Charlie with him to meet his birth mother, but when she enters the room it becomes clear that she has some kind of serious illness. Angry with her for not contacting him before, Cal is not sure what to do. Dixie learns that her superiors are investigating Jess's complaint, but refuses to climb down, determined to do what is right for Olivia. Iain continues to flirt with Rita but accidentally sends a text to the wrong person. Jacob gives up his Christmas to be with Connie.
Episode 17
A Life Less Ordinary
Struggling with his recent terrifying discovery, Cal goes completely off the rails realizing that he is late for work, Cal jumps into his car, only to be involved in an accident. After the night before, he realizes that he could still be over the alcohol limit. Ethan is furious with him, but others are more concerned - Charlie tries to talk to him while Ethan assumes that he is upset about losing Matilda and consoles him. Charlie suggests to Connie that Cal needs a break. As he sees how much people care about him, he breaks down, but discovers that he is braver than he thinks.

Lie to Me
Dixie risks her life for Jess and Olivia. Lofty fears he has ruined his chances of a promotion.
Episode 19
Black Alert
The Emergency Department is pushed to the limit, but the team pull together under difficult circumstances. Feeling guilty and mentally exhausted after what happened with Olivia, Ethan is determined to give everyone the care they deserve, but this proves easier said than done. Lofty's nerves are in danger of getting the better of him on the day of his interview, but Dylan is at hand with encouragement. Jess comes to see Dixie to say thank you and confirm that she has withdrawn her complaint. Charlie encourages a distracted Cal to go and see Ben. Elsewhere, Big Mac passes his motorbike test.

Shame
Noel is assaulted as he and Big Mac walk home from the park. Iain and Dixie praise Big Mac for saving Noel's life, unaware Big Mac hid in the toilets during the assault.

Dixie questions where she wants to go in her life when Jess asks her to move away and live with her.

Step Right Up
Ethan returns to work. Cal is shocked by Emilie's appearance. Lofty struggles to be a boss and a friend to Robyn.

Connie makes a shocking discovery about her daughter. Big Mac revels in the attention he receives. Robyn worries about Lofty.

The Fear
Rita receives a frosty reception from her colleagues in the Emergency Department after her lies to Iain were revealed. Elle is offered the permanent position of consultant in the ED and appointed as the department's new Deputy Clinical Lead. Meanwhile, Jez is so busy showing off that he forgets to fill the ambulance with petrol, Jacob and Connie are happy together, and Robyn is gutted after her break-up with Glen. After a difficult day, Rita decides that it's best if she takes some time away from the hospital, and shares a heart to heart talk with Charlie outside the Hope and Anchor, before walking off to go travelling.
Episode 43
Sticks and Stones
Grace's friend Carmel injures herself while playing on a trampoline, and when Grace rushes home to seek Connie's professional aid, where she then discovers the truth about her mother and Jacob. Jacob is offered the position of Clinical Nurse Manager. Alicia returns to the ED and is wary about working with Lily again after what happened. Meanwhile, Glen is admitted to the ED having apparently been found drunk out on the street, but when it becomes clear he hasn't been drinking, a more devastating prognosis comes to light. As everyone heads to A&E with Carmel, Connie works to make amends with Grace, while also trying to get to the bottom of a mysterious set of scratches found on young Carmel's stomach. When social services are called, Steph pursues Connie in her car and ends up resulting in Connie driving off a cliff.
