A hooker who appears to have diabetes confides in Adam that she may be HIV positive. A ventriloquist and his dummy irritates staff and other patients. Various staff look after receptionist Amy's baby. Duffy tells Max their brief fling is over; Max accuses Charlie of interfering because he wants Duffy for himself. Sean confronts Chloe and is shocked to learn she aborted his child.

Many guests at a wedding breakfast are taken ill where the groom's jealous ex is a microbiologist. A depressed woman attempts suicide by driving off a cliff and a passer by is injured when going to her aid. Sean is desperate to get back with Tina, but she hopes and believes what happened with Max was more than just a kiss. Irritating artist of the urine Spencer makes his drunken debut, soon to be a staff member.

A gas explosion disrupts the Christmas cheer in Accident and Emergency, while Max and Tina make the most of being stuck in a lift.

The Morning After
Frank Gallagher reappears - apparently reborn as a drugs counsellor with a junkie girl patient desperate for methadone in tow. Adam gets chatted up by a persistent patient. Possessive Patrick warns Sean to stop trying it on with Holly. Chloe is happy with a new mystery lover and is emboldened to volunteer to tell relatives their son has died and to ask their permission for organ donation. A bad tempered diabetic collapses on a remote hill with hypoglycaemia, but vital drugs have been stolen from Josh & Penny's ambulance by the junkie girl. The other synopsis of this episode is a load of old rubbish: there is no one called Amanda in the cast and Max doesn't get engaged to anyone.

A bogus paramedic causes chaos among the staff and patients of Holby City, and a mugging incident results in Adam having to reveal a secret.

Fall Out
Sean is devastated to discover the truth about Max and Tina, while Adam feels pressured to reveal his secret.

Amy plucks up the courage to audition for a band and a hungover Sean is forced to rethink his life when a friend needs his help.

Josh and Penny are called to deliver a baby in unusual circumstances, while Max faces his worst nightmare as his son is brought in for emergency treatment.

Burned Out Hearts
Max gets in the way of the struggle to save his son Frank's life, a bizarre coincidence reunites a mother and son, and Charlie's least favourite patient causes a scene.

Tough Love
It's the day of Frank's funeral; and Max finds out the identity of Frank's murderers - and that he saved the life of one of them. Max & Charlie go for a talk and walk on Clifton Suspension Bridge. Holly is upset with Patrick because he wasn't at the funeral; his treatment of patients and pathetic attempt to win her back as his lover. Patients include an ex cricketer with claustrophobia who gets trapped in a lift with Adam, Chloe and a pregnant woman. Amy makes her singing debut.

Penny's medical skills are tested to the limit during a diving expedition, and Holly is mystified at the collapse of a promising teenage dancer.
