The mother of a little boy dies after being hit by a car. A clergyman with a terminal illness sustains injuries while trying to run away from loan sharks. A bridge graffiti moron gets paint in his eyes while attempting to declare his love. Sean is undiplomatic when dealing with a time wasting patient. Duffy has returned to a department even busier than ever. Having laid a Policeman at their housewarming party, Chloe tries to set Tina up with a patient with a bottom injury, but with her rape still very recent, this does not go well. Charlie drives off for a break with the now unseen Baz.

It's the day of the coroner's inquest and Sean is understandably worried as he will be questioned by the father of the deceased - a man hungry for revenge. Mark is late for work following a night of sex with former call girl Pam. A little girl played by an actress known for her cuteness in several roles has a fall in a multi storey car park. Lonely porter Sunny would like a date with a pretty patient and gets her number but loses the magic ticket. Future arrogant and handsome Casualty doc Patrick Spiller actor Ian Kelsey appears as the father of a boy with nosebleed.

Episode 13
A pregnant woman's life hangs in the balance as staff struggle to diagnose her condition, and a fisherman experiences bizarre hallucinations. UKTV PLAY description.

Amy brings baby Milo to see everyone on her way home. Meanwhile, Eve and Gerry want to throw Frank out when they catch him about to take drugs in the toilets. UKTV PLAY description.

Episode 19
Marius is brought in and diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Max is worried that he doesn't have medical insurance and Eve admits she married him so he could have treatment; he was tortured after being arrested at a civil rights protest. Max visits a recovering Frank and they reconcile. A boy, Kieran, has been shot as a result of drug wars on a council estate and is taken to hospital. Residents association leader Simon stirs up a mob to confront local dealer Johnstone, giving him a minor beating before he is arrested. He turns out to be a haemophiliac and Josh and Penny are called but the mob is outside the police station and they can't leave. Charlie sends Sean and Chloe to help out. Kieran's friend Nicola tells Simon that he was working for Johnstone, not an innocent bystander, but Simon refuses to call things off. When the news arrive that Kieran has died, the mob attack the ambulance as it is leaving and Nicola is trampled. Kieran's mother Karen arrives with a gun she found in his room and fires into the air, ending the protest; Johnstone and Nicola are rushed to hospital. Chloe is disgusted that Pat didn't care if Johnstone died. She and Sean comfort each other and kiss.

Episode 20
Adam's father pays an unscheduled visit, a groom's stag night goes disastrously wrong and Josh's gambling habit gets the better of him. UKTV PLAY description.

Episode 21
A football fiasco results in a medical disaster for the local team's star player, while consultant Max receives devastating news about the A&E's future. (UKTV PLAY)

Episode 22
An Eastern European mail order bride and her besotted husband receive a visit from the woman's former lover - she dumps both men. Charlie gets Eve's immigrant husband a cleaning job at the hospital. An old rocker and his besotted young wife plan to start a new life on the proceeds of his drug smuggling, but one of the condoms containing heroin he has swallowed leaks resulting in his death. His woman takes what's coming to her. The department is receiving numerous complaints - fortunately ladykiller Sean orders an X-ray on a woman which brings to light a serious condition which might otherwise have gone undiagnosed and earns himself a peck on the cheek. Grumpy temporary receptionist Tanya fortunately only lasts this one episode. Sex hungry Sunny, Sam and Adam surf the net for online women and men.

Episode 23
Sean faces a tough time as an injured fireman and his pregnant girlfriend land him with a moral dilemma, while Penny helps Josh to cope with his gambling addiction. (UKTV PLAY).

Episode 24
Josh and Penny go to the rescue of a 15 year old girl and get trapped when the building collapses. Max is on hand to advise from above. Former Grange Hill star Joseph Kpobie appears as a boy accused of abduction - the ubiquitous PC Garratt is on hand to take him into custody. An awkward old timer played by Roy Barraclough thinks he knows more than Dr George.

Episode 25
The A&E staff have to deal with the aftermath of tear-gassing and gang violence. George contemplates applying for a job at Broadway General. (UKTV PLAY)

Episode 26
Sean's future looks bleak as the hearing into Eugene Rafferty's death begins. George gets a job offer, and Max feels the need for a swift vodka. (UKTV PLAY)

Episode 27
Josh and George are held hostage in a botched bank raid, while back at the hospital, Charlie promises the department's future is safe in his hands. (UKTV PLAY)
