Question: Just a quick note ...
Question: Just a quick note to say Mom is looking forward to seeing you at Christmas. But just remember that my real husband will be there and you have to pretend to be a distant cousin. Love ya. — Sheri Ausiello: OK, but please don't seat me next to your brother Jimmy at dinner. There's something seriously wrong with him. Plus, he smells.
Question: This 31-year-old ...
Question: This 31-year-old man wonders if you are one of us? — David B. Ausiello: Not anymore, Dave. I lost all of that weight by my first year of college. And I'm proud to say I have kept it off ever since. Speaking of which, if anyone associated with Balance Bars, Soy Crisps or Boca Burgers is reading this, I'm available to be a spokesperson. I assure you my Before and After pics are extremely compelling, and therefore worth every penny.
Question: Have you noticed ...
Question: Have you noticed that Felicity Huffman's character on Desperate Housewives wears that three-strand necklace in every scene she is in? Regardless if she's wearing sweats or a cocktail dress? Is this the result of a really lazy stylist or do you think it will be part of a story line to come? — Lauren Ausiello: Yes, I've noticed this, too! I have a feeling it's just a personal choice made by Ms. Huffman. I have a call in to the show to make sure, though. Stay tuned...
Question: Your "Top 5 ...
Question: Your "Top 5 television couples" answer got me thinking. I know you like Gilmore Girls, so who do you think Rory was best with: Jess, Dean, or this new blond boy, Logan? — Sara Ausiello: I know this isn't gonna win me any new fans, but I kinda-sorta liked her with Jess. That said, I think this new Logan dude has tremendous potential. BTW, how great was last night's episode? Not only did Rory name-drop Spike and Drusilla (my seventh favorite TV couple of all time), but that whole speed-dating thing featured Paris at her wittiest, bitchiest best. My favorite line of the night was when Paris, having just been caught shagging Doyle, told Rory, "You have no right to be repulsed by my sex life." I nearly spit up my peanut butter Fro-Yo.
Question: Has anyone ever ...
Question: Has anyone ever told you that you have a giant noggin? Does it run in your family? — Angela Ausiello: What, is it Pick on Mike Week?
Question: What's Martha ...
Question: What's Martha Stewart's NBC reality show gonna be about? I read it's gonna be like The Apprentice. — Sheryl Ausiello: It's not gonna be like The Apprentice, it is The Apprentice. As I reported months ago in TV Guide magazine, Stewart is most likely going to replace The Donald in the boardroom beginning with the show's fourth cycle in September '05. Everyone knows it but, for some unknown reason, no one is saying it — including Mark Burnett. When I asked him last week about the Martha/Donald switcheroo, he replied, "I think there's every reason to believe that Donald Trump will continue with The Apprentice." Read between the lines, folks.
Question: I enjoy "Ask ...
Question: I enjoy "Ask Ausiello" very much, and have read your "Entertainment News" column since its inception. I host a radio show for WDUN in Gainesville, GA. I was hoping that you would consent to a brief, 10-minute interview sometime next month that could be prerecorded at your convenience. I promise not to bash the Smurfs or Keri Russell. — Bill Wilson Ausiello: Just checking, Bill — is this a paying gig? My agent is asking.
Question: There was a show on ...
Question: There was a show on over the summer on ABC and I can't remember the name. What I do remember is there were two boys and one girl. Can you tell me the name of the show and if it's coming back on air? — Danielle Ausiello: I know this one... it's on the tip of my tongue... wait... wait... wait... damn, I lost it. Ismail?
Question: You can't use "Open ...
Question: You can't use "Open Mike" as the new title of your column in TV Guide magazine ("Ask Ausiello" 11/24)! That's the name of a really-horrible-Canadian-rip-off of Leno that got axed a few years ago. — Jane Ausiello: The TV Guide brass ultimately went in a different direction anyway. The big reveal should hit newsstands in about two weeks.
Question: Can we chat about ...
Question: Can we chat about Desperate Housewives? Wasn't it painfully obvious that Mrs. Huber was gonna get whacked? Also, is it just me or are some of these story lines just getting too, well, dumb? And yes, I'm talking about Susan falling through Mike's floor. — Fatima Ausiello: Yeah, with each passing week this show becomes more and more preposterous. Susan's fall through Mike's floor was certainly one example, but Mike's aw-shucks reaction to finding his girlfriend hanging from his cracked ceiling marked a new, ludicrous low. Also, can someone please explain to me why Bree would go to all the trouble of concealing her son's hit-and-run accident, only to suggest he spill all the sordid details to a shrink — not to mention attend a tea party with the son of the woman he ran over!? And don't even get me started on Lynette's umpteenth breakdown — or her decision to hide from the world by plopping herself in the middle of a friggin' soccer field. S
Question: What show will Yes ...
Question: What show will Yes Dear replace when it returns at mid-season? — Bobby Ausiello: One likely scenario has it replacing Center of the Universe on Wednesdays at 9:30 pm following King of Queens. Of course, that could change should Universe suddenly become watchable. (Cue laugh track.)
Question: There is a ...
Question: There is a commercial currently running for Aleve that shows two black women talking. I know that I have seen both of these women before but I can't place their names. Can you help me? — Rhonda Ausiello: Ismail, meet your first assignment.
Question: Got any scoop on ...
Question: Got any scoop on the new season of American Idol? — Charlie Ausiello: I hear the Wednesday results show will be an hour long this season instead of just 30 minutes. Oh, and the producers can't stand Fox. And vice versa.
Question: How was your ...
Question: How was your Thanksgiving? — Susan Ausiello: It was a mixed bag. We ate dinner at Charlie Brown's and had the worst service ever. We were seated promptly at 4 o'clock and our catastrophe waitress immediately started complaining about her long day (she started work at noon). Plus, she couldn't get me a Diet Coke refill to save her life and didn't laugh when my grandmother asked her if her name was "Ask Me About Our Gift Certificates!" On the bright side, the salad bar was slammin' and the pepper-crusted salmon rocked my world, so it wasn't a total loss.
Question: Michael, give us ...
Question: Michael, give us the dish: What has happened to the Watercooler staff? It seemed like there was a bitter battle between Rochell Thomas and Rebecca Peterson to write about Thursdays, and then Rebecca suddenly left. Rebecca even mentioned Rochell in her farewell column, but it didn't exactly sound friendly. What's the deal? And don't try to put a spin on it — the truth is out there. — Winnie Ausiello: Here's the sitch about the great Watercooler Controversy of 2004, according to the section's exec producer/spin doctor, Angel Cohn: "There is absolutely no competitiveness between our Watercooler writers. They are a tight-knit team, almost like a little family. Rochell and Rebecca amicably agreed to swap nights, after which Rebecca decided to part ways with TV Guide. Now, way off the record (please don't run this part), I recall that Rochell skipped Rebecca's going-away party, claiming it was her Watercooler night or something. And I recently over
Question: Your last name is ...
Question: Your last name is my last name, too! Are you related to me? — Leigh Ausiello: Possibly. How big's your head?
Question: I loved Flame on ...
Question: I loved Flame on Santa Barbara ("Ask Ausiello" 11/17), especially when she slept with Father Michael and then wrote, "I am a sinner" on his back with red lipstick as he slept. — Tony Ausiello: Yeah, they don't make characters — or scenes — like that on daytime anymore. Speaking of The Fiery One, am I the only one shocked that Roberta Weiss (aka Flame) didn't become the biggest star on the planet after SB? I mean, is Hollywood, deaf, dumb, blind and stupid?
Question: You are like a ...
Question: You are like a puppy. Very cute and entertaining till it poops in the living room. — Sam Ausiello: Thanks, Sam. That was the nicest e-mail I've received all week.
Question: For the record, I ...
Question: For the record, I think your column is hilarious! All those naysayers should get a life. By the way, what do you think of the new season of Amazing Race? — Robyn Ausiello: I missed last week's episode because my TiVo broke down, but I loved the premiere. Lots of crazies this time around, most notably Jonathan. That nutjob makes Colin look like Rupert from Survivor.
Question: I just got back ...
Question: I just got back from seeing Keri Russell's new play Fat Pig. Did you make it to Friday's show? And if so, what did you think? — Christine Ausiello: Yes, I certainly did make it and I have to admit, I got chills when she first stepped out on stage. I mean, it's been nearly three years since I've seen her in anything and I had no idea what to expect. Well, not only did she look stunning, but she acted her freakin' ass off in a role that was about as far from Felicity as you could get. Essentially, her character — a foul-mouthed, superficial, judgmental accountant — disapproves of her ex-boyfriend's (Entourage's Jeremy Piven) decision to date a "generously proportioned" girl. She has some great scenes with Piven, including one in which she literally shoves him halfway across his office, over a swivel chair and onto the floor. The play itself, like most of Ne
Question: If Papa Smurf gets ...
Question: If Papa Smurf gets on a train going 50 miles per hour and Animal from the Muppets gets on about 20 miles into the trip and starts relentlessly hitting Papa Smurf with his drumsticks, how much later will it be if Papa Smurf is thrown off the train 20 miles after Animal gets on? — Lola Strickland Ausiello: A-ha — another trick question. Papa travels by snail.
