Question: For the last time, ...
Question: For the last time, are you gay or straight? — Emily Ausiello: It's complicated, Em. Let me start by saying that [Censored for privacy issues... Censored for privacy issues... Censored for privacy issues... Censored for privacy issues]. Now do you understand why I'm being so vague?
Question: I heard a rumor ...
Question: I heard a rumor that you got the shock of your life when you returned to New York from Detroit. True? — Angel Cohn Ausiello: I don't usually respond to questions posed by my TV Guide colleagues, but I guess I can make an exception in this case since, well, I kinda begged Angel to submit it. Yes, it's true! I had quite a surprise waiting for me in the lobby of my Manhattan apartment building Thursday afternoon. There, before my very eyes, was Mariska Freakin' Hargitay! In an unbelievable coincidence, Law & Order: SVU was taping scenes for its Feb. 15 episode, "Hooked," on my turf! I. Kid. You. Not. Despite that pesky restraining order (which I'm pretty sure has expired), I marched right up to Mar and here's what came next. Me: Mariska! It's Mike Ausiello from TV Guide. (Please let her remember me from the Emmys.) Mariska: (Turns around, waving
Question: What exactly is ...
Question: What exactly is "Ask Ausiello"? Is it all about Smurfs, your ego and Keri Russell? If so, I'll pass and keep reading your "Entertainment News" column. At least that's funny. — Sandy Ausiello: I wholeheartedly agree. "Entertainment News" is hysterical.
Question: "Stormy Weather" is ...
Question: "Stormy Weather" is one of my favorite Falcon Crest episodes, too ("Entertainment News" 11/19). Those Brits don't know good television. — Marie Ausiello: Yeah, I usually have tons of respect for our friends across the pond, but they stomped on the wrong grape when they named Falcon Crest one of the worst U.S. TV imports of all time. If they actually bothered to watch the show — especially during Seasons 6 and 7 when the incomparable Jeff Freilich was in charge — they would have realized how smart and ahead of its time it was. And I'm not saying that just because it's where Mariska got her start. Seriously, folks. If SoapNet ever gets off the pot (to borrow a pfhrase from my pal T., above) and starts airing the show again, you'll see what I mean.
Question: You, Kristin Veitch ...
Question: You, Kristin Veitch and Dalton Ross are in a room with only one Diet Raspberry Snapple left. Who wins? — Betsy Ausiello: Congratulations, Betsy! You're the winner of this week's "I can't believe you're asking me this. It's insulting, honestly. It's absolutely insulting" Award for the "Ask Ausiello" question with the most obvious answer! Please come forward to accept your slightly used tube of Snapple lip balm!
Question: Hey, we're in a ...
Question: Hey, we're in a very small minority. I was 6'2 and 350 lbs. when I graduated high school. Now, I'm 170 lbs and trying to put weight back on. Congrats! — Jon Ausiello: Wow, you lost 180 lbs! That's the equivalent of three Stacy Rotners ! Congrats to you!
Question: Has there been any ...
Question: Has there been any official word on whether Tru Calling has been canceled? Don't you think with so many people asking about the show, that Fox would take a hint and realize it's, dare I say, worth airing? — Angela Ausiello: Still no official word, but my spies tell me that 20th Century Fox has gone ahead and dismantled the show's sets — and you know what that means. This whole situation confounds me to no end. Why Fox would renew Tru for 13 episodes, only to cut back the order to six and then effectively cancel it before any of those said episodes aired is beyond me. Gail Berman better start spinning one fantastic tale now because she's got some explainin' to do at press tour next month.
Question: This cracks me up: ...
Question: This cracks me up: Mary, as in The Bachelor's Byron and Mary, is showing up here in the Tampa Bay area in commercials for Ideal Image, a hair-removal clinic around here. What a way to extend that 15 minutes of fame. I wonder if Byron knows? — Pam W. Ausiello: Thanks for the scoop, Pam. I'll have Mike drop a 10-44 form in the mail to you ASAP.
Question: OK, I love Gilmore ...
Question: OK, I love Gilmore Girls, and usually get all their pop-culture references, but what is Fro-yo? — Amanda Ausiello: It's frozen yogurt, silly. That reminds me, it's time for your daily Tasti D-Lite run, Ismael. Ismael!? Where'd he go now? He better not be flirting with Rochell again.
Question: The season finale ...
Question: The season finale of Dead Like Me felt more like a series finale. Do you know if my favorite show is coming back for a third season? — John Ausiello: It's 50/50. I hear Showtime is waiting to see how good their new pilots are before making a final decision.
Question: When will Roseanne ...
Question: When will Roseanne come out on DVD? I need my white trash fix. BTW, am I the only one who liked the episodes when they were rich? I mean, come on — they got to meet Patsy and Edina! — Roseanne Ausiello: Well, I'm sure you're not the only person named Roseanne who liked those episodes. And regarding the DVD, I'm hearing that the first season will likely be out in late 2005.
Question: Has the character ...
Question: Has the character of Bosco on Third Watch been written out for good? — Mary Ann Ausiello: Nope, he's sticking around — although he'll be laid up in a hospital bed for the near future.
Question: This is more of a ...
Question: This is more of a comment than a question. Although I love Desperate Housewives, and I think all of the actresses deserve Golden Globe nominations later this month ("Ent. News" 11/17), I think Lauren Graham deserves it more. — April Ausiello: You're preaching to the choir, Ape. There's no question that Graham is long overdue for recognition for her work in Gilmore Girls, but with Housewives fever sweeping the nation, I fear those buzz-worthy Wisterians will squeeze Graham out of the best comedy actress category. And not to knock Teri Hatcher and Co., but that would be a tragedy on par with the great Scrubs snub of 2002. And 2003. And 2004...
Question: Here's an answer ...
Question: Here's an answer and a correction to two questions from last week's Ask Ausiello. The Sister Seamstress show was called The House of Eliott and She-ra was not He-man's cousin but his long lost twin sister. Hey, I could be your assistant! You'll do the "funny" stuff and I'll do the actual work. I just need a green card. — Ismail Ausiello: Promise never to call me a two-dollar elephant ho? If so, you're hired. Now, how familiar are you with 45th Street Cleaners?
Question: Just wanted to say ...
Question: Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving! Did you go out shopping on Black Friday? — Jess Kennedy Ausiello: Sort of. I was actually looking forward to sleeping in, but at 6 am I got a prank phone call from some ignoramus pretending to be Darth Vader. Unable to get back to sleep, I went to the office to retrieve a huge stash of re-gifts I had been storing under my desk for the past eight months. Speaking of which, if anyone wants a Christmas with the Kranks Advent calendar or a deck of Playing It Straight cards, lemme know.
Question: Do you put every ...
Question: Do you put every question that you get in your column? — Kate Ausiello: Hardly. There ain't enough room in cyberspace for me to run every "Ask Ausiello" question/comment I receive. In fact, last week I logged a record-shattering 235 messages. Granted, half of those were either death threats and/or corrections to He-man's convoluted family tree, but I digress...
Question: What did you think ...
Question: What did you think of Matthew Perry on Scrubs last week? — Heather Ausiello: He was fine, but I felt the episode was the weakest of the season so far — writing-wise. Of course, this season has been consistently brilliant, so those are high standards to live up to.
Question: Yes, Mike, that ...
Question: Yes, Mike, that tidbit of a scoop you gave me about Joey will suffice for now ("Ask Ausiello" 11/24), but you have got to admit that something has to be done to make that show more watchable. Any suggestions? — Chase Ausiello: Aside from a new writing team and more Jennifer Coolidge? Not really. Although, I'm looking forward to catching Lucy Liu as his boss later this month. Click here for more on that.
Question: You remind me of ...
Question: You remind me of the janitor on Scrubs. Or Dr. Cox. Would you insult me? Please? — Matt H. Ausiello: Well, tell me a little bit about yourself, Matt. How old are you? What line of work are you in? Do you have chronic bacne?
Question: What ever happened ...
Question: What ever happened to the Friday-night show Matchmaker with the divine and adorable Alicia Silverstone? I liked it. — Shelley Ausiello: It was renamed Miss Match and canceled.
Question: Hi, I'm fat, too! ...
Question: Hi, I'm fat, too! How fat were you? — Greg Ausiello: Yippee! I was 250 lbs. at my heaviest, which was my senior year of high school.
