Britney Spears' Father Named Permanent Conservator
Britney Spears may be making a strong comeback — most recently evident with her skin-baring video for "Womanizer" — but the pop star isn't exposing herself to the risks of full independence just yet. A Los Angeles court ruled Tuesday that her father, Jamie, has been named permanent co-conservator of her estate with attorney Andrew Wallet. The two were tasked with taking charge of Spears' affairs when she was first hospitalized last winter. "The court finds the proposed permanent conservatorship is necessary and appropriate," Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who has been presiding over the case in recent months, said at the hearing. Notably, Spears was in favor of the renewal of the conservatorship, which might indicate a growing desire to take care of herself since her darker days.
Shatner Lashes Out at Takei over Wedding Snub

Jurors were deadlocked, 10-2, in favor of acquitting the star after more than eight hours of deliberation. A mistrial was declared on Tuesday, with prosecutors announcing several hours later that they would not pursue the case further, the case was dismissed.

Four years after his last major studio album, Eminem is releasing a tell-all that reveals his struggles with poverty, drugs, fame, heartbreak and depression, according to MSNBC.com. In The Way I Am, Marshall Mathers III (that would be Em's given name), walks readers through his childhood, his introduction to the rap scene and his eventual struggles therein, from the loss of his father as a child to his experience as an outsider in high school in Detroit and, most recently, the loss of his best friend, Proof, who was shot in 2006. Mad Men's January Jones: Betty's "Time Bomb" Has Gone Off
Now that Mad Men's Don (Jon Hamm) has left the house, his future with wife Betty is left hanging in the balance, without much time left in Season 2 to figure it out. Yet, as Betty has slowly become more emboldened in recent episodes, her newfound independence is leaving her portrayer, January Jones, in a bit of a conundrum as to her hopes for the couple's storyline to come. Jones wouldn't say exactly what does happen in the season's two remaining episodes, but she did share her hopes for Mr. and Mrs. Draper. "I'm old-fashioned. I'd really like to see her and Don work it out," she told TVGuide.com. "But, on the other side, if it were me, actually me, I would have kicked him out a long time ago, so I don't know." Yet, she continued, "I have high hopes for her. I think these last couple of episodes have been a huge deal for her. I don't know what's happened that's made her have this strength all of a sudden, but I think the ticking time bomb went off."

Travis Barker was released Friday from a Los Angeles-area burn center, four weeks after surviving a plane crash that killed four. The former Blink-182 drummer returned to California on a specially-equipped bus with medical personnel after the September crash.
