"The Wire" creator David Simon pens a love letter to New Orleans in this music-fueled drama that follows its citizens as they attempt to put their lives back together three months after Hurricane Katrina. On hand are "Wire" vets Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters, as, respectively, star-crossed trombonist Antoine Batiste, who revels in the first neighborhood parade since the storm, and Mardi Gras Indian chief Albert Lambreaux, who sets out to repair the local bar where his tribe practices. Meanwhile, college professor Creighton Bernette (John Goodman) fumes at the government's role in the disaster, and his attorney wife, Toni (Melissa Leo), helps tavern owner LaDonna (Khandi Alexander) try to find her missing brother; chef Janette (Kim Dickens) struggles to keep her restaurant open; street musicians Sonny (Michiel Huisman) and Annie (Lucia Micarelli) entertain tourists as they trickle back into town; and DJ Davis McAlary (Steve Zahn) wages a one-man campaign to resurrect the city's soul.
