Season 2 of David Simon's New Orleans drama opens in November 2006, 14 months after Hurricane Katrina, but the city's ongoing recovery is hampered by an uptick in crime, which gives police lieutenant Terry Colson (David Morse) and the department all they can handle. The can-do spirit is still alive, however, in some characters, including Antoine (Wendell Pierce), who mulls starting his own band, and his ex-wife, LaDonna (Khandi Alexander), who vows to hang on to her bar, Gigi's. Meanwhile, Toni (Melissa Leo) is worried about the emotional state of her daughter, Sofia (India Ennenga); businessman Nelson Hidalgo (Jon Seda) arrives from Dallas to reap the benefits of the city's reconstruction and demolition projects; Davis (Steve Zahn) petitions his Aunt Mimi (Elizabeth Ashley) to bankroll a music project; and Delmond (Rob Brown) debuts his new album in New York, where Janette (Kim Dickens) is working in a trendy restaurant. Cameos include chefs Tom Colicchio, Eric Ripert and David Chang.
