Hulu Picks Up Season 2 of Web Series Workshop, Starring Passions Vet Phillip Jeanmarie
It's smart, it's sweet, it's snarky, it's Workshop! That terrific web dramedy about a band of struggling Hollywood actors has returned for its second season and is now available via Hulu (hulu.com/workshop). This is the first time Hulu has distributed an independent half-hour series, so kudos to Nate Golon, the show's gifted creator/exec producer/star, and to Daytime Confidential gossip kings Luke Kerr and Jamey Giddens, who recently signed on as associate producers. Two caveats, per Variety: The show will air only four days a week, and further slash its acting tutor production budget.... Clark Kent may be more powerful than a locomotive, but even a Superman can’t handle every crisis by himself. Enter Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, the latest DC Comics character to visit Smallville. The CW network's Smallville spin-off — dubbed Mercy Reef by some unofficial accounts — has reeled in a new leading man: Soap hunk Justin Hartley (Passions) has been tapped to replace Will Toale as A.C. Curry/Aquaman. "We have made the decision to go in a different direction with the role," a CW spokesperson says in making the announcement. Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves was a major catalyst behind the recast. As reported yesterday, the spin-off costars Ving Rhames as McCaffery, A.C.'s mentor, as well as Denise Quiñones as Rachel Starling.

Sam and Dean took on a souped-up murdering machine that was responsible for killing Dean's African-American ex-girlfriend's father. Well, not just the truck, but also the spirit of its racist owner, forcing the boys to dig deep into the town's troubled history. We're used to all the inexplicable stuff that goes down on this show, right? In fact, that's what Supernatural's all about. But the most unrealistic thing happened: We were supposed to buy that a girl actually willingly broke up with Dean. Come on! In what universe?
