Melissa McCarthy and comedian Billy Gardell are charming and real as the stars of this engaging sitcom, which continues the romantic relationship of a Chicago teacher and Windy City police officer who met at an Overeaters Anonymous gathering. The Season 2 opener finds the couple now officially engaged, with Molly throwing herself into wedding planning and Mike being reluctantly dragged along for the not-such-a joyride. In other developments later in the season, Mike moves in with Molly and tries to adapt to living in a houseful of women; and Molly must deal with her overbearing and intrusive future mother-in-law, Peggy (Rondi Reed), on a new level when she gets a job in the cafeteria at Molly's school. As for the wedding plans, Molly suggests they write their own vows, which Mike finds hard to swallow until Carl (Reno Wilson) gives him some fulfilling food for thought, and the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Biggs lose their wedding venue when an opinionated Molly gets a priest hot under the collar. In the Season 2 finale, Mike and Molly head down the aisle, but the trip is not without a few wedding-day hitches.
