TNT Pulls Plug on Jada Pinkett Smith Drama HawthoRNe
After hemorrhaging viewership in its third season, TNT's HawthoRNe has been taken off of life support. The network announced Friday that it will not renew the medical drama, starring Jada Pinkett Smith as the head nurse at a Richmond, Va., hospital. On the set of Raising Hope recently, Jason Lee is feeling a little out of sorts. No, it's not the gray, long-haired wig (complete with a Snooki-esque pouf). Jason Lee to Guest Star on Raising Hope
Jason Lee has signed on to guest-star on an upcoming episode of Raising Hope, Fox announced Monday. Lee, 40, star will play Smokey Daniels, a washed up rock-star. Daniels is hired as the main act at Grocery-Palooza, a concert at the supermarket where Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) works. In the episode, titled "Burt Rocks," Burt (Garret Dillahunt) plays backup to Smokey as he tries to relive his own rock-star years.

The good news about this year's bumper crop of new summer TV: There's plenty of it. (I spent much of the last few days wading through a mid-July burst of new crime-drama premieres.)
