Detective Amanda Rollins joins the Manhattan SVU from Atlanta, while Benson struggles to cope with the fall-out from the shooting in the precinct.

He is arrested for stripping in public, and he is held in the psychiatric ward of a hospital until the effects of the drugs wear off. He uses his wheelchair to search around the ward's corridors. He opens a door and sees a female patient being raped by an unknown man. He tries to alert everyone he can about the crime, but nobody takes him seriously. The SVU unit reluctantly investigates the case, and they find out that the patient in question is Gia Eskas. She has repeatedly claimed to have been raped and sexually assaulted since her early teens, but her family and doctors consider her delusional. The SVU insists on Gia being physically examined, and there are indeed evidence of multiple rapes and permanent scars dating to the last decade or so. While Gia does not voluntarily identify who has been raping her, the SVU notice that Gia's uncle is both the only male member in her family and the only one who is interested in her well-being. The uncle soon confesses to have been in love with Gia since she started wearing bras in her early teens. His erotic photographs of Gia confirm that he has been raping his niece since that time.
