The case centers on a college student (Shannyn Sossamon) accusing her professor (Billy Campbell) of rape, while he claims they had consensual sex. The episode ends without viewers ever hearing the jury's verdict. Also during this season, Stabler (Christopher Meloni) sees his longtime marriage begin to crumble as he and his wife undergo a separation. Season 6 guest stars include Martin Short as a psychic and Matthew Modine as a serial killer.
