Ratings: Idol Rules, But Modern Family Keeps Growing
For the second week in a row, ABC's Modern Family posted significant gains, despite going head-to-head with ratings powerhouse American Idol.Modern Family drew 10.1 million viewers, an increase of 8 percent from last week, and tied its season high in the adults 18-to-49 demographic. Its lead-in, The Middle (8.2 million), was also up, improving 11 percent to reach a series high. Faltering against Idol, Cougar Town shed more than 3 million of Family's viewers and fell sharply in the 18-to-49 demo.Fox, of course, won the night, anchored by Idol (25 million viewers), which was up 4 percent from last week, when it debuted in the 9/8c Wednesday timeslot...
