Jamie and Eddie investigate an arson, where Eddie narrowly escapes serious injury. Jamie spots and arrests the juvenile arsonist, but rightly suspects Justin Mathews is being manipulated. Just promoted in the DA's office, Erin is even more reluctant when both Danny and Jamie ask for her help in their investigations. Danny can't prove the murder and decapitation of a Mexican 'dark hand' is the work of drug cartel boss Luis Delgado, whom Danny believes responsible for torching his former house, which Delgado smugly admits under four eyes, even hints his cartel had a hand in the death of Danny's wife Linda. Jamie refuses to stop riding with his fiancee, which isn't against the rules but customarily considered a recipe for trouble, Frank hesitates whether to forbid by discretionary measure. Danny nails Delgado in a drug bust, but openly cuts him loose in front of his crew, so he seems a snitch and is murdered by the following morning. Jamie later reveals to his father that he passed the sergeant's exam at the top of the list and accepts the promotion, with station transfer.

Freshly-promoted sergeant Jamie is transferred to the 29th precinct. His new captain Espinoza introduces him to some of the problematic cops working there. After weeding out the bad apples, Jamie prepares a list of cops he would like to have transferred to his precinct; only his Eddie asks not to be transferred, wanting to make it on her own as a cop. Gormley asks Danny and Baez to help tracking down a former NYPD detective Ray Cross, was mixed up with drug money,whom he believes may be a threat to the safety of of Frank, who let him retire with his pension. Cross held a grudge for being kicked off and involved his son, a young office worker at 1PP, who ultimately gets shot. Just-promoted Erin reopens a closed case that her late predecessor Monica Graham was told to drop by their boss, a friend of the wealthy defendant, accused of abusing his wife. Frank and Baker team up to investigate a complaint about an SVU detective, brought to their attention by Kelly Peterson.

Jamie and Eddie must navigate their changing work-life dynamic- after overhearing some of the cops at Jamie's precinct badmouth him in private, which he finds normal as even they bag bosses, she requests a transfer there. Danny and Maria investigate a case involving a woman who shot her husband while drunk, but Danny's instincts smell more. Finding out the husband had an affair with a professor posing as their marriage counselor, Danny also uncovers that he made his wife think she shot him, so arrests husband and mistress. Frank holds an emergency evacuation drill for his inner circle, secret even for Garrett, who is initially left out being late and pissed-off till included in a re-run. Fearing face loss in her new department, Erin scolds Anthony for ignoring her order to drop an assault case, without listening to his good reason: crucial evidence was not in the police report.

Frank learns that during the blackout learns tan area was un patrolled. He asks Sid to look into it. He learns that a chief ordered the patrols diverted On orders from the mayor. He tells Sid to fire him which he is hesitant to do. Erin is hesitant to prosecute a woman to committed a crime because her husband coerced her.

Highschool student Sean calls Eddie playing his one-off joker to avoid formal charges for truancy and underage drinking. Danny scolds her for not informing him and even Jamie, who ponders Sean is acting out like Jamie when Danny left for the Marines, hoping to get his college-bound big brother Jack to stay home to "keep him in line." Danny invites Jamie and Eddie to his house as Jack prepares to leave in order to apologize for his outburst and compliments Jamie's decision to marry Eddie. Danny and Baez investigate a murder attempt against celebrated fertility doctor Max McCandless. A young receptionist quit after her first shift upon finding out the doctor is her biological father, who used his own sperm instead of many wish fathers. Erin pushes mortified Anthony to seek justice after a date night leads to his wallet and Rolex being stolen. They ultimately catch the culprit and Anthony testifies. Frank's old friend in physio-rehab believes a supervisor reassigned his son and wants said supervisor fired immediately, but the architecture graduate son asked for a reassignment, only having joined the force for his father's sake, and gets a clever offer.

Molly later shows a romantic interest in Danny, who still shows a reluctance to date again following his wife's death. Erin fears Nicky's new boyfriend Nicholas Papadopoulos has ulterior motives: the suave nephew of a criminal Erin is prosecuting got close to Nicky just in time to spy or hinder Erin's case, as initially defensive Nicky finds out by secretly recording him doing so.

Eddie 'retaliates' against a co-worker who presumably pranked Jamie, who feels forced to suspend her, midst questions about their relationship by precinct colleagues like Eddie's patrol partner Maya, to whom she pretends not being Jamie's girl. As a video of a sting executed by the NYPD reaches the press, media and public are incensed by alleged entrapment, Frank focuses on finding the cop who leaked the video, and why. Gormley loses his cool at a press conference when reporters badmouth the officers involved, leading to an argument with Frank. Danny and Baez investigate the murder of tabloid writer Charlotte. Recording hip-hop artist Cameron Gooding admits that Charlotte had written scathing articles about him, but they romantically involved, shifting focus to Cameron's overprotective business partner. Erin gives a high-profile case to an inexperience AD, who seems to lazily compromise it, but the suspect threatened his family.

Jamie strives to rely less on Frank's counsel; while riding with one of his officers, they happen upon a heated argument between a rude, threatening passenger and a cab driver, a former cop, who has no valid license and carries a gun. Frank's breakfast is interrupted by community activists whose leader Corey Vallejo accuses him of a hit-and-run when the vehicle he is riding in runs over the foot of juvenile Malik, but Gormley finds Malik had set it all up. Frank admonishes Corey before giving her a second chance to redeem herself. Learning that his ex-wife Vivian is seeing a therapist, Anthony is confronted by a psychiatric patient gone off the rails who makes a run for it, checks on the doctor and finds her secretary dying. Anthony panics about Vivian and their daughter in danger from the patient records, but detectives collar the perp timely. Danny's new neighbor from Texas, Ron, is angry upon learning his daughter Jennifer is dating Sean. The two fathers don't see eye to eye, Ron even forbids the 'bad influence' friendship until Ron gets jumped and Danny helps him out, yielding tickets to a hockey game, saying that Sean befriended Jennifer when nobody else did and agreeing Sean must only gets Jennifer home by curfew.

Though it wasn't his first shooting, this one is harder to process now wife Linda isn't anymore. Danny and Baez investigate the murder of another young man whose mother seems especially out of sorts over the circumstances. Frank learns that Inspector Clifford, a top officer in his department, was arrested as a gang member for robbery aged 15, and the crime was unknown to the department but would have made him ineligible for NYPD. Eddie apprehends a turnstile jumper who pleads for leniency by offering information on a missing weapon that's vital to one of Erin's murder cases, but Eddie has reservations about working with Anthony given his deceptive, near-abusive methods.

Parole officer Don Vorhees, fired after Jamie and Eddie arrested for abusing his power over parolees (episode "Erasing History"), presumably launched a smear campaign, posting racist propaganda under Jamie's name and comes to the precinct to file a bogus harassment claim against them after the officers confront him at his address. However, he was framed for private reasons. Danny and Baez turn to Margo, daughter of a woman strangled in her apartment, who only points towards their neighbors, who all despised the domineering woman, while hiding the truth with her undesirable lover. Mobster Leo Stutz shows up in the DA's office claiming to be Anthony's long-lost half-brother and offers to help prosecute his former big mob boss.

Eddie and Maya arrest a clumsy drug pusher, who offers information about an officer in their squad who steals from crime scenes. Eddie informs Jamie, who instructs her to leave it with IAB and helps them fake a crime scene to trap their dirty colleague Maya and has her publicly arrested during roll call. Frank's longtime friend and former partner Lenny reveals to him that an upcoming exposé will air some of the NYPD's dirty laundry, Frank works out why he made a false confession to a reporter. Danny and Baez investigate the mysterious overdose of a promising artist that turns out no accident. Erin must decide charge Dr. David Petersonwhose experimental treatments led to the death of his terminally ill daughter Sarah; his ex-wife Elaine demands that he be charged for murder, but he explains that Sarah begged him for euthanasia and her presumed wishes swing a deal.

After an out of shape officer Rachel Witten's nearly fails to rescue his partner timely, Frank ponders whether to adopt a more rigorous fitness test for the NYPD after an incident with Garrett (who happily lost weight) and (unrepentent fat) Sid and the police union representative, who needs a dirty push to a compromise. Eddie asked and got to be partnered with Witten, who invites her to join an NYPD women's sports league, but Jamie objects, haunted by flashbacks to the Blue Templar, fearing league mates may take advantage of the soon-to-be daughter-in-law of the Police Commissioner, angering Eddie. Danny explains Jamie's reasoning to Eddie given Joe's death and says he'll talk to Jamie about it, Jamie later reconsiders. Danny hesitantly pursues a cold case because the bumbling original detective was Sid Gormley. Danny, Maria and Sid solve the case. Anthony has Erin stall a murder trial against a longtime foster mother to gather more evidence; her foster son Sam Jones admits to Anthony that he only pretended being with the suspect, who is actually rather lazy and neglectful, so Anthony later takes Sam in.

Jamie and Erin bicker after Jamie seeks her help charging a man who confessed to him under the influence, which is dismissed at Erin's office, stirring tensions at Sunday dinner, but Anthony helps Jamie bring the guilty party to justice. Anthony pushes Erin and Jamie to work on their individual issues to better understand the challenges each faces on the job. Someone breaks into Luis Delgado's home and kills his wife, but the boys managed to hide. Luis and Danny team up to take down Jose Rojas, the vicious Mexican cartel murderer believed responsible for Linda's death. Luis meets with Rojas wearing a cell phone modified as a wire, but Rojas smells danger with his former protege, dumps Luis's phone into a drink and runs. A gunfight between detectives and Rojas's goons ensues, Luis and Rojas duel before Danny approaches. Luis urges Danny to kill Rojas, who confirms he murdered both of their wives' , but Danny just arrests them and visits Luis in jail to share condolences, Luis gratefully accepts Danny's offer to watch out for his kids. Danny re-visits medium Maggie to confide about his wife, she holds he must let go of Linda, having kept his wedding promises; Danny removes his wedding band. Frankmiost make clear she can't just drop his name when he meets Eddie's mother Lena, who has been having issues with other tenants at her apartment complex due to her husband Armin's Ponzi scheme.

Episode 20

Eddie saves a coking baby's life, but the father bolts stat. Eddie becomes personally involved in the child services case. These events make Jamie and Eddie consider their family options- she never committed to having children, but the couple now agrees to take the major steps jointly with care. Governor Mendez keeps Erin to her promise to 'help' convince Frank to back a new state police bill in exchange for amending sex-trafficking laws, which Frank refuses, earning her Mendez's ire, threatening to wreck her reputation. Mendez and Frank find a compromise themselves. Danny and Baez pursue a suspect twice after the DA's office is unconvinced by their initial lineup, where Danny declined assistance from another detective without investment, leading to yet another argument with Anthony, who still helps Danny collar the perp more by-the-book fashion. Frank faces a challenge when a cop killer comes up for parole. The cop's cop son, a friend of Sid's, threatens to exact justice when the killer goes free, leading to Sid visiting the man in jail to warn him but he's long cancer-terminal. Garrett advised against meeting with a cop killer in jail, is offended that Sid continuously makes him feel like an odd man out in the group because he never was in blue uniform.

Episode 21

Eddie's father Armin gets Jamie to visit him in prison, requesting that he be there to walk her down the aisle. Skeptical of Armin's intentions at first, Jamie still asks Danny and Erin who help him make it happen, then gets the green light from Eddie. The couple visits Armin, who says "Thank you, my angel. You've always looked out for me", his phrase every time he asked her to cover for him over the years, hence she refuses and storms out with Jamie. DNA evidence in a murder case leads Danny and Baez to identical twins with identical alibis. When the detectives uncover the truth from one of the twin's ex-girlfriends, they go to arrest the suspect twins, but upon agreement one shoots the other in the chest right before turning the gun on himself. Frank learns from professor Corey Vallejo that Nicky is interviewing for a job at her activist Justice Coalition, actually set up as a way to get her brother a job with the NYPD. Henry finds the package left for him on his front door (an old locket of Betty's that he had repaired for Nicky as a graduation present) stolen. His also senior lady neighbor provides footage from her security camera showing the thief is her granddaughter, an incorrigible addict. Henry nudges her to give the girl a second chance, but she dies of an overdose soon before rehab.

Jamie and Eddie's wedding day arrives, but Eddie is at odds with Erin grilling her over conflicting witness accounts and takes Jamie's attempt to ease the situation the wrong way, feeling further insulted. Anthony and Eddie later find that the witness lied under oath and Erin. Danny and Baez investigate the murder of a young man whose still obsessed ex-girlfriend, the prime suspect, swears that she had nothing to do with the man's death, as surveillance footage from another building's camera shows it was another ex. Garrett and Gormley are offended when Baker privately presents a plan to Frank, and a heated argument forces Frank to have them switch jobs for a day while agreeing on Baker's plan. All three struggle, and they make up the following morning. Frank also stresses over delivering the toast for Jamie and Eddie's rehearsal dinner; the entire Reagan family, Lena Janko , Rachel, Baez and Anthony are in attendance, with Archbishop Kearns officiating. Frank walks Eddie down the aisle at her request.
