In the sixth season of this family-cop drama, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) pursues elusive serial killer Thomas Wilder (Louis Cancelmi), who enjoys taunting the determined detective. Meanwhile, Erin (Bridget Moynahan) begins getting investigative assistance from a detective newly assigned to working with the DA's office: Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa). He helps her with several of her tough cases, and at one point things get sticky when they must investigate Anthony's own cousin. Family ties also grow complicated when Frank (Tom Selleck) agrees to do a favor for college freshman Nicky (Sami Gayle) and speak at her school, but he's met by an unwelcoming audience full of loud protesters. And Frank is greeted with opposition once again when a passionate city councilwoman (guest star Whoopi Goldberg) proposes a bill to end the NYPD's broken-windows policy of policing.
