This New York crime drama focuses on a multigenerational family of cops, which includes the city's police commissioner, his two sons and his retired father. Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) stars as the NYPD police commissioner, a role once held by his father, Henry (Len Cariou). Frank's eldest son Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) is an Iraq War vet and a detective on the force, daughter Erin (Bridget Moynahan) is an assistant DA, and younger son Jamie (Will Estes) is a Harvard alum who just became a beat cop. In the premiere season, the Reagan family deal with the recent loss of another son, Joe, who was killed in the line of duty. Along the way, they tackle many crime situations, often with the help of Jamie's partner, Sgt. Anthony Renzulli (played by "NYPD Blue" alum Nick Turturro).
