A British variation of 'Meet the Parents' that chronicles the disastrous week prior to a wedding as a bride and groom cope with jitters, tensions and mishaps, ranging from her disapproving parents to his crazed ex.
This British hidden-camera "stunt" show served as a vehicle for a comedy team consisting of three plus-sized black women. Stars Nina Benjamin, Jocelyn Lee Esien, and Tameka Empson seemingly had no trouble whatsoever dreaming up an endless supply of outrageous "reality" situations, ranging from perambulating through the streets of West London clad only in their undies to heading into the deep American South wearing KKK robes. Regular features included "Issue Lady," in which one of the women made impassioned speeches to captive audiences in subways, movie-theater queues, and restaurants; and a segment wherein hapless gentlemen were accosted on the street by the stars, who proceeded to dredge up memories of nonexistent relationships (the victims obviously remembered nothing, since there was nothing to remember -- but a surprising number nodded their heads as if they recognized the women who ambushed them). In the United States, 3 Non-Blondes premiered August 10, 2003, on the BBC America satellite service.
