Question: I just want to say thanks for giving me a way to express my love to you in a public forum. Kisses and hugs. — Sheri from Oklahoma Ausiello: Right back atcha, Sheri. In the meantime, please e-mail me your photo and I'll alert security downstairs that you might be dropping by.
Question: If you could pick one canceled TV show to be brought back, which one would you choose? — Stephen Ausiello: Congratulations, Stephen! You're the winner of this week's "I can't believe you're asking me this. It's insulting, honestly. It's absolutely insulting" Award for the "Ask Ausiello" question with the most obvious answer! Please come forward to accept your Magic 8 Ball!
Question: What's your favorite bar in NYC? — Jen Ausiello: It's called Stalker Alert. Have you heard of it?
Question: What has Ben Covington, um, I mean Scott Speedman been up to? Oh, and if S.B. doesn't want to have brunch with B.D. Wong, I'd be happy to go. — Eliza Ausiello: Ben, er, Scott is currently shooting the upcoming sequel to XXX, after which he'll begin work on a follow-up to Underworld. Then everyone's favorite underachiever heads back to medical school. And regarding the S.B./B.D. brunch, not sure if that ever happened. Let me make some phone calls.
Question: What happened to Dean Winters on FX's Rescue Me? He was amazing on OZ and misused on Law & Order: SVU. — Marianne Ausiello: A rep for the show tells me Winters, who wasn't under contract with Rescue Me, wanted to pursue other interests and chose to move on. But I kinda think there's more to it than that. Let me make some phone calls.
Question: Why has Scrubs been completely ignored by the Emmys so far? — Chad Dowdell Ausiello: The same reason The West Wing won four Emmys in a row: The voters take pleasure in my pain.
Shameless flirt Raj dodged yet another bullet on Thursday's The Apprentice when 24-year-old model-in-mogul's-clothing John took the fall for losing the couture competition to the women. Ten hours into Friday's traditional post-firing PR blitz, which included appearances on Today, Extra, Tony Danza and Fox News Live, the onetime rugby champ sat down for what was arguably his most important interview to date: the one with TV Guide Online's Michael Ausiello. TV Guide Online: Why is no one making use of the new "Three people in the boardroom" rule?John: These are people you [potentially] have to continue to live and work with. As a result, you don't want to alienate another member of your team; that's an ally you've lost. I didn't think I was going home, so I didn't feel the need to alienate another person. But above and beyond that, the reason nobody brings three people in is because those three people can all aim their gu
Question: Wow. With "Ask Ausiello" you now have a column that neither informs nor entertains. Congratulations! — Rick Ausiello: Okay, folks. I get it: You like "Ask Ausiello." You really, really like "Ask Ausiello."
Question: You poke fun at a lot of celebrities. Besides hate e-mail from their fans, do the celebrities themselves ever respond to you? — Amanda Ausiello: Funny you should ask, Amanda. Last week, a TV Guide staffer in Los Angeles informed me that some dude named "August" left her a voicemail message looking for me. She passed his phone number on to me and, fearing that he was a hit man hired by Courtney Love, Mischa Barton, Elisabeth Rohm or Jai Rodriguez, I begged my fearless colleague, Angel Cohn, to pose as my assistant and find out what the heck he wanted. Turns out, "August" was none other than August Caimi, the star of Fox's forthcoming reality spoof My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss — the same guy I jokingly described as a "Red Lobster Waiter" in my column last Wednesday. Apparently, he read the item and wanted to have a "friendly chat" about it.
Question: Yay! You have a new column! I'm so excited! I love your "Entertainment News" and read it every day religiously. In fact, I love you so much, that if I ever meet you, I promise to run into the nearest store and buy you a case of Diet Raspberry Snapple. The 12-pack! — Sara Ausiello: Please remember to check the freshness date, Sara. After five months on the shelf, Diet Snapple tastes like it's made from the worst stuff on earth. Trust me when I say there's nothing more heinous than outdated Diet Raspberry Snapple. And this comes from someone who's seen the Center of the Universe pilot.
Question: Have you heard any scoop on what really happened to cause the producers of Monk to fire Bitty Schram? — Melissa Ausiello: Although the company line was "creative reasons," there's talk that Schram was angling for more coin and got a pink slip instead. At a pre-Emmy party last month, I overheard one of the producers discussing this very matter. When asked why Schram was ousted, said producer simply replied, "Life is too short." Interpret as you like.
Question: Loved the premiere "Ask Ausiello" column. Random observations + random answers = entertaining reading. — Jeremy Ausiello: Jeremy, I think we took the same math class in high school. Did you go to Roselle Park?
Question: What is Felicity, er, I mean, Keri Russell up to these days? Also, how do you pronounce your last name? — Bill Ausiello: I'm happy to report that Keri recently completed work on two upcoming TV projects: The CBS Hallmark Hall of Fame movie The Magic of Ordinary Days (to air later this season), and the Steven Spielberg-produced TNT miniseries Into the West (debuting next year). And, to answer your second question, Ausiello is pronounced awe-see-yellow. Feel free to practice with a friend.
Question: Well, Kelly Preston better be thanking Marisa Tomei for her new gig — because she, I bet, is the Oscar-winning actress who turned down the Joey gig. Am I right? — Kari Ausiello: Officially, I have no comment. Off the record, I can say that you are absolutely right! But please don't quote me on that. And if you do, please attribute it to "a source close to TV Guide." Meanwhile, here's another little tidbit: I hear Tomei was originally approached about playing another one of Joey's sisters, but the role was reconceived after she passed. Preston will now play the best friend of Drea de Matteo's character.
Question: Julia and Mason or Cruz and Eden? Which couple is better? — Chris. Ausiello: To quote you-know-who, "I can't believe you're asking me this. It's insulting, honestly. It's absolutely insulting."
Question: Mike, love the column. I wondered if USA has renewed The 4400 yet? Thanks a lot, and Mariska rules my TV world! — James Ausiello: Although the contracts haven't been signed, look for Season 2 of 4400 to kick off next summer.
Question: Please say that F/X will do a third season of Nip/Tuck. I'm still reeling from last week's cliffhanger! — Miranda Ausiello: I've got good news and bad news for you, Mir. Can I call you Mir? Cool. The good news: Yes, F/X will have a third season of Nip/Tuck. The bad news: Series creator Ryan Murphy may not be a part of it. (He wants to make movies, beginning with the Julianne Moore pic Running with Scissors.) And as he half-jokingly pointed out to me last week on the phone, "The only person in the world who knows whether Christian is dead or alive is me, so the fate of that character does rest in my hands." Sounds like someone's enjoying his newfound power, Mir.
Question: Where has Scott Foley disappeared to? — Chrissy Ausiello: You mean Noel? He just inked a development deal with 20th Century Fox for his own series. And I heard he might direct an upcoming episode of Monk. Speaking of which...
Question: Your completely weird sense of humor cracks me up. Maybe you could get your own TV show? — Shanda Ausiello: First off, Shanda, I loved, loved, loved you on America's Next Top Model. And about your question, from your lips to God's ears. And by God, I'm referring to... um, whoever ends up giving me my own TV show.
Question: Hey, Mike, I am a blast from your past. Remember me and Ernio? Anyway, love your news and I am so glad that you are doing well. — Debbie Ausiello: Um, what part of "Debbie, don't ever e-mail me at work" didn't you understand?
Question: Does the Oscar winner who passed on Joey happen to be Marisa Tomei? What do I get if I'm right? A date with Mariska maybe? — S.B. Ausiello: Sorry, but Kari beat you to the punch. As a consolation prize, I can offer you brunch with B.D. Wong.
