Question: You said you were a ...
Question: You said you were a New Jersey Ausiello. Are you from a Mafia family? You can tell me — no one is listening. — Chet Morris Ausiello: Well, as long as no one is listening, yes I am.
Question: You said you were a New Jersey Ausiello. Are you from a Mafia family? You can tell me — no one is listening. — Chet Morris Ausiello: Well, as long as no one is listening, yes I am.
Question: Do you know what happened to Graham Norton and his show on Comedy Central? Will there be a second season? — Anita Answer Ausiello: Nope. The ratings were kinda sucky and I hear it tested poorly with focus groups.
Question: What are the chances of JAG getting renewed for the 2005-06 season? — Lauren Ausiello: I'd put it at fifty-fifty. It's holding its own on Friday but it's so freakin' expensive to produce.
Question: I was wondering if Anne Heche will be joining the cast of Everwood for good? — Leeanne Ausiello: It's just 10 or so episodes at this point, but that may be extended. Keep your fingers crossed.
Question: I love your column, but I have to respectfully disagree with your casting choices for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie ("Ask Ausiello" 12/22). Lauren Graham would be perfect — she's beautiful, sexy, smart, witty, and I'm sure she'd look amazing in the red boots! Have a very Smurfy day! — Jill Ausiello: I'm sold.
Question: Amazing Racers from previous seasons have been prohibited from talking about the show until they were eliminated. Why do you think that Jonathan and Victoria are allowed to post comments on each episode on their website? — Judy Ausiello: Actually, they're not — and CBS recently reminded them of that little fact. That's probably why we haven't heard from Norman Bates and Dorothy Doormat lately.
Question: As a fan of Buffy and The O.C. I have to ask: Does Ryan's new crush Lindsay live in Buffy's old house? When she closed the door on Ryan, it echoed previous slams on Angel and Spike — right down to the very same door! I think. Please tell me I'm not crazy. — Tess Ausiello: While I can't vouch for your sanity — you are reading this column, after all — I went back and checked the Dec. 9 O.C. and you're right! Lindsay did move into Buffy's old digs. I think. I'm still waiting for the show's rep to get back to me with the final word.
Question: I am so sorry about calling you Matt in last week's "Ask Ausiello." Now, please tell me what ever happened to Kellie Martin. What's she doing? — Suzi Ausiello: No problem, Sandy. It's not like I'm some kind of diva who flips his lid when someone calls him by the wrong name. Just promise me it won't happen again, OK? OK!?!?! Now, back to Ms. Martin. Life does indeed go on for this former ER star (wink, wink). She just shot four more of those Mystery Woman films for the Hallmark Channel, the first of which airs on Jan. 7.
Question: Yo! I'm here to slap you out of your obviously Snapple-induced stupor and berate you for leaving the awesome Desperate Housewives off of your Top 10 list. It at least deserves to be rated over Everwood, no? — V. Ausiello: Regular readers of this column know that I'm not crazy about what has become of Wisteria Lane since the show's promising pilot. Although last Sunday's episode marked an improvement (Gabrielle push-carting her assets over to Bree's garage was one highlight), the show continues to disappoint with its predictable plotting and third-grade dialogue. Everwood, on the other hand, seems to get better with each passing episode. The smartest thing Greg Berlanti ever did was gag that painfully earnest voice-over. The second-smartest thing he ever did was add Scott Wolf and Anne Heche to the cast. How freakin' fantastic are these two? Pretty freakin' fan
Question: Hmmm.... sorry about accusing you of messing up the GG airdates before. I just reread what you wrote, and I guess you went in and changed it! Very sneaky. — Anya Ausiello: I have no idea what you're talking about, Anya. Hey, are you a vengeance demon?
Question: Do you think The Shield will last more than one more season? I absolutely dig the show, but how many times can Vic skip away without getting caught? — Michael Ausiello: I thought the upcoming season was going to be the last, but then FX went and hired Glenn Close and that theory went out the window. That's the kind of casting coup that turns a ratings-challenged cult hit into a mainstream smash. At least I hope it does.
Question: I know you're a little biased, as you work for TV Guide, but how do you think Joan and Melissa's red carpet coverage will hold up against Star Jones' on E!? — Holly Ausiello: Excuse me, but that's Star Jones Reynolds to you, my dear. And if I'm being completely unbiased, I'd have to give the edge to the Divas River. I have a hunch Star's gonna be too distracted by all the free crap she's wearing to pay any attention to the stars.
Question: You wrote that Jimmy Smits would be elected president next fall on The West Wing. Was this just conjecture based on what's going on with the show or do you know something concrete? — Steve H. Ausiello: Sort of a combination of both. But now I hear that producers may opt to go with Alan Alda's more conservative candidate to better reflect the times. In any event, look for Martin Sheen to stick around for the transition next fall.
Question: No, no, no! Showtime can't cancel Dead Like Me! Might another network pick it up? — Joseph T. Sustrik Ausiello: It's a good question, and one I posed to MGM's television president Hank Cohen over the phone yesterday. "We are exploring every opportunity and option that we have available to us," he told me. "It's a terrific show and, contrary to what [Showtime president Robert Greenblatt] told Variety [on Tuesday], our producers don't feel like we've even begun to explore all of the Reaper opportunities that we have. We have a very, very loyal fan base and I'm going to do everything I can for these fans to make sure the show lives on. The irony of all this is that Dead Like Me is a metaphor for second chances, and we're hopefully going to find one." Cohen expects a final decision will be made within 45 days, which, according to my calculations, is plenty of time to mount a mass
Question: You got your Gilmore Girls dates mixed up in "Ask Ausiello." The next original episode, airing on Jan. 25, is the show's 98th, not 100th. The 100th episode airs on Feb. 8. — Anya Ausiello: I never said the Jan. 25 episode was its 100th. Read it again, Anya.
Question: Rumor has it that E! Online's Kristin Veitch and you are secret lovers. Any truth? — Steve Ausiello: Let me put it this way: I'll do whatever it takes to find out who her Alias mole is.
Question: When does the second season of Rescue Me start? And is Season 1 coming out on DVD? You are quite the beanpole, BTW. — Nicola Ausiello: Season 2 starts in early summer. Look for the Season 1 DVD to come out a few weeks before that. And thanks for the beanpole comment.
Question: I thought your Top 10 list rocked, with one exception: Carnivale. I watched the entire season and almost nothing happened! Should I keep to my vow and swear off the show forever, or do you have any inside info that might persuade me to give it another chance (besides how terrific Clea Duvall is)? — Steve Ausiello: I hear we might find out who Management is.
Question: So, what did you think of the Apprentice finale? — Shannon Ausiello: I think that's three hours I'll never get back. I also think Martha Stewart needs to escape from Camp Cupcake and put Donald out of his misery.
Question: Hey, I just read "The Ausiello Report" in the new issue of TV Guide magazine and I was psyched to learn that Stephanie March is returning to Law & Order: SVU in February! Any chance she might stick around? — Geoffrey Ausiello: Sadly, it's just for the one episode. But exec producer Neal Baer isn't ruling out another Alex Cabot sighting down the line, so keep your fingers crossed. (No worries, Mariska, you're still my favorite.)
Question: What about The Wire? — Aaron Ausiello: If I actually watched it: probably tied with The Sopranos at No. 1. Since I don't: No. 11.
Question: What's your favorite comedy of all time? — Keith Becker Ausiello: Roseanne — before she won the lottery.
