It's been a year, and Spider-Man is still finding the superhero life is full of dangerous pitfalls and avoidable collateral damage. Fortunately, Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., offers to fix that with a special training program that offers to make Peter Parker the Ultimate Spider-man. Now the quintessential superhero loner must learn to get along with a new team of superheroes as fellow students, both in his professional and personal life. Between those demands and the supervillains, life is as hectic as ever for the Webslinging Wonder.

Peter's life as Spider-Man has been going great for him, his Aunt May and his Spider-Team have finally came to terms over Peter's identity as Spider-Man. Doctor Octopus has escaped again and the three heroes have managed to defeat him. As soon as Doc Ock is about to be placed back into his cell, he releases a nano-bot on Swarm and the Tri-Carrier is turned into a Hydra base. Spider-Man and Fury are unable to contact Connors or anyone at the Triskelion. Iron Spider and Agent Venom notice the break out and the two work with Spider-Man and Fury to stop Doc Ock, Arnim Zola, and the Goblin Soldiers, with very little success for them. Nova takes Fury to safety and he gives Spider-Man a device to revert the Tri-Carrier back to normal, before Spider-Man can activate the device, Ock destroys it and he leaves Spider-Man for dead. A mysterious figure comes to the hero's rescue, Spider-Man wakes up and he soon meets another spider-themed hero, who calls himself the Scarlet Spider.

Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man is currently between seasons, but everyone's favorite web slinger is the star attraction of Disney XD's Marvel Universe block this Sunday, Dec. 8. Spidey guest stars on the network's animated hits, Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (8/7c) and Marvel's Avengers Assemble (8:30/7:30c), teaming up with his fellow heroes in two separate adventures. Ultimate Spider-Man star Drake Bell provides the character's voice in both shows.

Ultimate Spider-Man Recruits Iconic Marvel Comics Heroes and Villains in Season 2

"With great power comes great responsibility" is the iconic mantra of Spider-Man. But when the web-slinging superhero returns for the second season of his animated Disney XD series, he might have to change that to "With great responsibility comes great responsibility." That's according to Jeph Loeb, Marvel Entertainment's head of television, who promises that Ultimate Spider-Man will feature more heroes, more villains and more roommates, starting with special back-to-back episodes Monday night at 7/6c. (The show returns to its Sunday morning slot on Jan. 27 at 11am/10c.)

Spider-Man is set to resume his battle against the bad guys in 2013. Disney XD will announce Thursday that Season 2 of the animated hit Ultimate Spider-Man will have a special one-hour premiere on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7/6c. The show then returns to its Sundays-at-11am timeslot on Jan. 27.
