Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man Swing Back Into Action in 2013
Spider-Man is set to resume his battle against the bad guys in 2013. Disney XD will announce Thursday that Season 2 of the animated hit Ultimate Spider-Man will have a special one-hour premiere on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7/6c. The show then returns to its Sundays-at-11am timeslot on Jan. 27.

In Season 2 of the show (Disney XD's No. 1 animated series for boys), Spider-Man (Drake Bell) and his teammates will face two new foes from the Marvel Comics mythology, the Lizard (played by ubiquitous voiceover star Dee Bradley Baker) and Electro, members of the new league of super villains known as the Sinister Six. During the season there will also be appearances by the stars of the upcoming animated series Marvel's Avengers Assemble, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk and Hawkeye.
Ultimate Spider-Man is part of Disney XD's Marvel Universe programming block. This season the network is adding "Marvel Comics Close-Up" to the mix. Hosted by Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada and Dylan Riley Snyder of Kickin' It, the series of interstitials will highlight popular Marvel comic books, with the goal of encouraging reading.
There will also be an online component to "Marvel Comics Close-Up" at DisneyXD.com/comics, as well as a new video game, "Ultimate Spider Cycle," at DisneyXD.com/Marvel.
