Rick King is a down-on-his-luck career gambler who -- after finding himself in debt with a bookie by the name of Mel -- sets plans to rig the outcome of a cable television dating reality show, Soulmate, to profit off fantasy leagues. When Rick falls in love with the bachelorette, Anastasia, he makes the choice to sandbag the bet and go for first (as he was slated to come in second per the bet). Weeks later, we find him laying low, crashing on the couch of his Soulmate competitor, Cliff Mueller -- a well-intentioned, slightly dim social introvert -- trying to repay his debt with more gambling and the help of his partner-in-crime, Disco -- a sleazy, con man ala carte and serial Lothario -- while also reconciling his failed relationship with Ana, amidst her finding out his past, and how he came to be on the show. Mel will stop at nothing to bring Rick down, even if she has to kill Abbott, Disco, Ana, Cliff and Rick. If Rick is not able to forge a solution, it could be season finale time for him and the mix.
