Tray Barker (Tracy Morgan) returns home to Brooklyn after spending 15 years in prison, only to find his home much changed from gentrification. Among the many changes Tray needs to adjust to is his ex-girlfriend Shay (Tiffany Haddish) raising their twins Amira (Taylor Christian Mosby) and Shazad (Dante Hoagland) with her husband Josh (Ryan Gaul), who happens to be white. With the aid of his cousin Bobby (Allen Maldonado) and his halfway house gang, led by house owner Miniard Mullins (Cedric the Entertainer), Tray tries to walk the straight and narrow so he could stay close to his kids. His new way of living, however, gets threatened when he crosses paths with Wavy (Malik Yoba), the man who got him into prison in the first place.
