In the Season 1 finale, Lauren Conrad turned down a Teen Vogue internship in Paris so she could spend the summer in Malibu with her then-boyfriend Jason Wahler. At the start of Season 2, she's full of regret.\ Not only have she and Jason split up, but she also learns from her boss that she'll "always be known as the girl who didn't go to Paris." One person who benefited from Lauren's decision is fellow intern Whitney Port, who jumped at the opportunity and spent the summer impressing Teen Vogue bosses in Europe. Meanwhile, Lauren's roommate Heidi Montag starts seeing Hollywood playboy Spencer Pratt, who's also not-so-secretly trying to date her pal Audrina Patridge. Spencer's shady behavior causes a rift between Audrina and Heidi, while Heidi inexplicably stays with Spencer. Meanwhile, Heidi hooks Lauren up with Spencer's best friend Brody Jenner (ex of Lauren's "Laguna Beach" rival Kristin Cavallari). But later on, Heidi and Spencer go behind Lauren's back, also setting Brody up with Lauren's good friend Jen Bunney. Lauren soon learns she can't trust any of them, and her friendship with Heidi begins to rapidly unravel.
