The first season of MTV's hit reality series kicks off as "Laguna Beach" alum Lauren Conrad arrives in Los Angeles to pursue a career in fashion. She and best friend Heidi Montag move into their own apartment in the Hollywood Hills\, and they quickly strike up a friendship with their neighbor Audrina Patridge, an aspiring actress. Lauren gets an internship with Teen Vogue, where she meets fellow intern Whitney Port. The job gets off to a shaky start when Heidi and her entourage crash a Teen Vogue event, getting Lauren in trouble. It's not the only instance of irresponsible behavior from Heidi. She decides to drop out of school after landing what she thinks is a glamorous job with Bolthouse Productions, a major player in the L.A. nightlife scene. But she soon learns the job is not all it's cracked up to be. Especially when she finds out her workdays will be filled with inane tasks, like envelope stuffing, rather than working the doors of Hollywood's hottest clubs. On the relationship front, Heidi spends Season 1 dating Jordan Eubanks, but their relationship ultimately fizzles. And Lauren reconnects with her ex Jason Wahler, who cheated on her in Season 2 of "Laguna Beach." She decides to give him a second chance, but their relationship is as rocky as ever.
