The first season of Supernatural introduces brothers Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles), who, following the violent and otherworldly death of their mother, grew up hunting and killing malevolent paranormal entities with their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). While Sam opted to attend college, Dean continued to hunt. The arrangement, while far from ideal, worked relatively well until John mysteriously disappears, leaving Dean no choice but to find Sam and convince him to return to hunting. As they travel the country, the brothers fight – and kill – the monsters of urban legend.
