Sons of the Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers

7 years ago, PKL burst on the Indian sports scene and gained quick popularity as millions of Indians took to its fantastic twist on a grass roots sports like Kabaddi. Over the years, the league's popularity has only grown - as have the stakes in the competition. After riding high as the first ever PKL champions in 2014, the much celebrated Jaipur Pink Panthers, arguably with the most popular team owners, failed to repeat the feat. This year, they decided to take a different route to reclaim their lost glory. Sons of the Soil is a sports-documentary that chronicles their journey from ground zero. The rigorous regimen, careful preparation and tireless training charts the efforts being put in by the Coach and his captain. The series also gives an insight into the larger backdrop of Kabaddi and the inception of the PKL in India. As Kabaddi's popularity explodes across India with the rise of the Pro Kabaddi League and the riches it promises, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who owns PKL team "Jaipur Pink Panthers" is determined to go after the title of the champions after 5 seasons of not being able to make a mark in the league. He gambles on a talented, loyal but young group of players in his quest to win season 7 of this sports biggest competition. The series also celebrates the passion, heritage and explosion of this indigenous sport all across India.
